Mickaël Maschio
Mickaël Shekel Maschio (born 19 May 1973) is a French former professional motocross racer. He competed in the Motocross World Championships from 1992 to 2005. Maschio was born in Digne-les-Bains Digne-les-Bains (; Occitan: ''Dinha dei Banhs''), or simply and historically Digne (''Dinha'' in the classical norm or ''Digno'' in the Mistralian norm), is the prefecture of the Alpes-de-Haute-Provence department in the Provence-Alpes-Cô ..., France. He won the 2002 F.I.M. 125cc motocross world championship riding a Kawasaki motorcycle. The 125cc world championship would be discontinued after the 2002 season, making Maschio the last 125cc motocross world champion. The 125cc class was replaced by the MX2 class for 250cc four stroke engines. Maschio was also a four-time French motocross national champion. Motocross is a form of off-road motorcycle racing held on enclosed off-road circuits. The sport evolved from motorcycle trials competitions held in the United Kingdom. Motocross World Championship
FIM Motocross World Championship is the premier championship of motocross racing, organized by the Fédération Internationale de Motocyclisme (FIM), divided into two distinct classes: MXGP and MX2. Race duration is 30 minutes plus two laps per race. The series runs 18 events with two races per class at each round. History The FIM Motocross World Championship is a worldwide motocross series sanctioned by the F.I.M. It was inaugurated in 1957 using a 500 cc engine displacement formula. In 1962 a 250cc class was added and in 1975, a 125cc class was introduced. Prior to 1957, the championship was known as the European Championship. The Fédération Internationale de Motocyclisme (FIM; en, International Motorcycling Federation) is the global governing/sanctioning body of motorcycle racing.
