Michurinsk (air Base)
Michurinsk (also given as Michurinsk Northwest, and Kozlov (before 1932)) is an air base in Russia located 9 km northwest of Michurinsk. It is the site of a well-maintained military training airfield. The base is to the 644th Training Aviation Regiment which flies the Aero L-39C Albatros as part of the 786th Aviation Training Centre for the Training of Flight Personnel. The training unit at Michurinsk is 644 UAP (644th Aviation Training Regiment) equipped with 108 Aero L-29 Delfin aircraft listed as of the early 1990s. It has also been equipped recently with Su-24, Su-25, and MiG-29 aircraft. Michurinsk
Michurinsk (russian: Мичу́ринск) is the second most populous town in Tambov Oblast, Russia. Population: History Originally known as Kozlov (), it was founded in 1635 at the northern end of the emerging Belgorod Line, a frontier defense line. A earthen wall was built eastward across the open steppe effectively blocking the Nogai Trail, a Tatar raiding route. The success of this line led to the building of further lines further south. The settlement was granted town status in 1779. The town was renamed Michurinsk in 1932 after the biologist Ivan Michurin, who had developed a genetic laboratory and agricultural testing fields in the Tambov region, dedicated to pomology (the study of fruit growing) and selection. Aero L-39 Albatros
The Aero L-39 Albatros is a high-performance jet trainer designed and produced in Czechoslovakia by Aero Vodochody. It is the most widely used jet trainer in the world; in addition to performing basic and advanced pilot training, it has also flown combat missions in a light-attack role. Unusually, the aircraft never received a NATO reporting name. The L-39 Albatros was designed during the 1960s as a successor to the Aero L-29 Delfín, an early jet-powered principal training aircraft. The Sukhoi Su-25 ''Grach'' (russian: Грач (''rook''); NATO reporting name: Frogfoot) is a subsonic, single-seat, twin-engine jet aircraft developed in the Soviet Union by Sukhoi. Borisoglebsk (also Borisoglebsk East) is an air base in Voronezh Oblast, Russia located 6 km east of Borisoglebsk. It is a small military airfield. The base is home to 160th Training Aviation Regiment which flies the Sukhoi Su-25 and Yakovlev Yak-130 of the 786th Aviation Training Centre for the Training of Flight Personnel. From 1960 to 1971 the 478th Training Aviation Regiment, initially flying Ilyushin Il-12s and Il-14s, was stationed at the airfield. It moved in 1971 to Petrovsk in Saratov Oblast.
