Michigan Wolverines Men's Soccer
The Michigan Wolverines men's soccer team is the intercollegiate soccer program representing the University of Michigan. The school competes in the Big Ten Conference in Division I of the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA). History Soccer became a varsity sport at the University of Michigan in 2000. The team plays at the U-M Soccer Stadium that was built in 2010. Colors and badge The team colors of Michigan are maize and blue. The badge is formed in a shape of a shield. At the top it has the word Michigan inscribed in maize behind a blue background, with the word Soccer on the bottom and a block M in the middle. Chaka K. Daley (born April 9, 1974) is a Canadian association football, soccer coach and former professional player. He is the head coach of the Michigan Wolverines men's soccer, Michigan Wolverines men's soccer team. Steve Burns (soccer)
Steve Burns is a former American soccer coach. He served as the inaugural head coach of the Michigan Bucks and Michigan Wolverines men's soccer team. Coaching career Michigan Bucks Burns served as the inaugural head coach of the Michigan Bucks of the Premier Development League from 1996 to 1999. During his tenure as head coach he led the Bucks to a 69–28–0 record, and four consecutive divisional titles. He helped lead them to national finalist finishes in 1996 and 1997 and advanced to the round of 16 in the 1999 U.S. Open Cup. University of Michigan Burns was the Michigan club team's head coach from 1993 until the program earned varsity status in 2000. He helped lead the club to six consecutive appearances in the national club championship tournament, and won back-to-back national club titles in 1997 and 1998. The 2012 NCAA Division I men's soccer tournament is a single-elimination tournament involving 48 teams to determine the champion of the 2012 NCAA Division I men's soccer season. It was the 54th edition of the tournament. Indiana defeated Georgetown, 1–0, to win its 8th national title. Qualified Teams A total of 48 teams will qualify into the tournament proper, either automatically, or through an at-large bid that is determined by a selection committee. Each conference that field varsity soccer teams are admitted one automatic berth into the tournament. The 2010 Michigan Wolverines men's soccer team represented the University of Michigan during the 2010 NCAA Division I men's soccer season. It was the 11th season the university fielded a men's varsity soccer team, and their 11th season in the Big Ten Conference. The team was coached by 11th year head coach Steve Burns.
