Michigan Reformatory
The Michigan Reformatory was a state prison for men located in Ionia, Ionia County, Michigan, owned and operated by the Michigan Department of Corrections. The facility has 352 beds at Level II security and 797 beds at Level IV security. The Reformatory was first opened in 1877 and housed "high-risk offenders". Ionia, Michigan
Ionia is the largest city in, and the county seat of, Ionia County, Michigan, United States. The population was 13,378 at the 2020 census. Every July it hosts what is said to be the world's largest free-admission fair. The city is mostly within Ionia Township, with small portion extending into Easton Township and Berlin Township, but is politically autonomous of the townships. Bellamy Creek Correctional Facility
Bellamy Creek Correctional Facility (IBC) is a prison in Ionia for men, run by the Michigan Department of Corrections. Facility The prison was opened in December 2001 and is a multi-level facility used for Michigan Department of Corrections male prisoners 18 years of age and older. On-site facilities provide for food service, health care, facility maintenance, storage, and prison administration. The facility is surrounded by two fences with razor-ribbon wire, and gun towers. Armed staff are also utilized to maintain perimeter security. Services The facility offers a library, recreational activities, education programs, substance-abuse treatment, religious services, group psychotherapy, psychiatry, gardening, and therapy. Onsite medical care is supplemented by local medical facilities. The prison is an In-Reach Facility for the Michigan Prisoner Re-Entry Effort (MPRI).
