Michiel Riedijk
Michiel Riedijk ( Geldrop, 1964) is a Dutch architect and professor at the Technical University Delft. He is co-founder of the architecture office Neutelings Riedijk Architects in Rotterdam, Netherlands. Life and work Michiel Riedijk studied architecture at the Technical University Delft from 1983 until 1989. He worked with architect Julliette Bekkering from 1989 until 1991 and in 1992 he founded Neutelings Riedijk Architects in collaboration with Willem Jan Neutelings. In September 2007 Riedijk accepted full professorship as chair of Public Building and Architectural Compositions at the faculty of Architecture at the Technical University Delft. Michiel Riedijk regularly lectures at universities, conferences and cultural institutions worldwide. He taught at the Technical University of Eindhoven, the Academies of Architecture in Amsterdam, Rotterdam and Maastricht, and the Berlage Institute in Rotterdam. Geldrop
Geldrop is a town in the Dutch province of North Brabant. It is in the municipality of Geldrop-Mierlo, around 5 km east of Eindhoven city centre. Geldrop was a separate municipality until 2004, when it merged with Mierlo. Geldrop is noted for having a neighbourhood with streets named after characters and elements from the works of J. R. R. Tolkien. The spoken language is "Geldrops", a distinct dialect within the East Brabantian dialect group and very similar to colloquial Dutch. Transport The A67 motorway (part of European route E34) links Geldrop with Eindhoven. Geldrop railway station is on the Eindhoven–Weert line. Museum Aan De Stroom
The Museum aan de Stroom (known as MAS; Dutch for: ''Museum by the Stream'') is a museum located along the river Scheldt in the Eilandje district of Antwerp, Belgium. It opened in May 2011 and is the largest museum in Antwerp. History In 1998 the Antwerp city council decided to build the museum at the Hanzestedenplaats. On 14 September 2006 the first brick of the building was laid. In 2010 museum objects arrived from various other museums like the Ethnographic Museum and the Maritime Museum, which both ceased to exist. The museum opened for the public on 17 May 2011. Design The MAS was designed by Neutelings Riedijk Architects. The façade is made of Indian red sandstone and curved glass panel construction. It is an example of postmodern Art Deco architecture. The MAS houses 470,000 objects, most of which are kept in storage. The first visitor's gallery is the "visible store", which contains 180,000 items. Culture House Eemhuis
Culture House Eemhuis is a culture house in Amersfoort, Netherlands was designed by Michiel Riedijk in 2013. The building houses cultural organizations including: a library, institutes of education, a school for arts, and spaces for art exhibition. History In 2013 Michiel Riedijk of Neutelings Riedijk Architects was the architect for the Eemhuis. The builders were Euramax, Harry van Interieurbouw, IFS-SGT, and Q-railing: the building was completed in 2014. In order to build the Eemhuis the municipality had to buy out a 30 lease from a tenant who had rights to the property. The construction also had a 5 million dollar cost overrun. The front of the building has three cantilevered sections which hang over a plaza entrance. The structure houses a library, a school of the arts, and large exhibition spaces.
