Peter Christian Hersleb Kjerschow Michelsen (15 March 1857 – 29 June 1925), better known as Christian Michelsen, was a Norwegian shipping magnate and statesman. He was the first prime minister of independent Norway and Norway's 9th prime minister from 1905 to 1907. Michelsen is most known for his central role in the dissolution of the union between Norway and Sweden in 1905, and was one of Norway's most influential politicians of his time. Background Born in Bergen, he was named after his grandfather, bishop Peder Christian Hersleb Kjerschow. He was the eldest of five siblings born into a merchant family. Michelsen Farmstead
The Andreas Michelsen Farmstead was originally built as a two-room house in 1902 by Andreas himself. In 1912 an addition was added to the home, making seven rooms in total, and little has changed since. The homestead consists of a 1 1/2-story Victorian-style farmhouse with a wraparound porch, and various outbuildings including a barn, granary, calving shed, coal shed, machine shed, storage cellar, corrals and pens, and an outhouse. Landscape elements on the property include a dugout, cistern and filter, and garden. The farmstead is located at the corner of 2nd Avenue & 6th Street, on the west half of four blocks in the northwest corner of the National Historic Site of Stirling, Alberta. The home remained in the Michelsen family until 1995 when the village, in partnership with the Stirling Historical Society, bought the homestead to turn into an interpretative center. Alfonso López Michelsen
Alfonso López Michelsen (30 June 1913 – 11 July 2007) was a Colombian politician and lawyer who served as the 24th President of Colombia from 1974 to 1978. He was nicknamed "El Pollo" (The Chicken), a popular Colombian idiom for people with precocious careers. Early years López was the son of former two-time president of Colombia, Alfonso López Pumarejo and his first wife María Michelsen Lombana. He was born and raised in Bogotá. Andreas Heinrich Michelsen was a German Vizeadmiral and military commander. During World War I, he commanded several torpedo boats and the submarine fleet, participated in the Battle of Jutland, as well as being the leading German commander during the Battle of Dover Strait. Early military career Andreas Michelsen was born on 19 February 1869 in Hildesheim as the son of Eduard Michelsen and Agnes Michelsen born Kisker. Christian Magnus Thim Michelsen (born 14 March 1976) is a Norway, Norwegian Association football, football coach and former player who is currently the head coach of Eliteserien club Kristiansund BK, Kristiansund. Playing career He started his senior career in Clausenengen FK, then played for Stabæk Fotball, Stabæk in the Eliteserien, Tippeligaen. From 1999 to 2003 he appeared 87 times in the Norwegian top flight with Stabæk, scoring 12 goals. 11 goals were scored in the 2000 season. After the 2003 season he signed with Moss FK. Albert Richard "Whitey" Michelsen (December 16, 1893 – July 7, 1964) was an American long-distance runner who is recognized as having set a world's best in the marathon on October 12, 1925, with a time of 2:29:01 at the inaugural Port Chester Marathon in Port Chester, New York. According to the International Association of Athletics Federations, Michelsen held this record until Fusashige Suzuki posted a 2:27:49 performance in Tokyo, Japan on March 31, 1935. Jacob Andreas Michelsen (17 August 1821 – 12 October 1902) was a Norwegian businessperson and politician, also known as the father of Christian Michelsen. He was the son of Tollach Michelsen, a manual labourer with roots in the Egersund district. Tollach's wife Madsi Magdalena Eide (died 1829) came from the same social background. Lars-Henrik Paarup Michelsen (born 23 April 1981) is a Norwegian politician for the Liberal Party. He was leader of the party's youth wing, Young Liberals of Norway, from 2003 to 2007. He served as deputy representative to the Norwegian Parliament from Hordaland during the term 2005–2009. Having helped win promotion to the First Division, he planned to retire after the 2004 season, but played one final season for Langhus.
