Michelin (; ; full name: ) is a French multinational tire, tyre manufacturing company based in Clermont-Ferrand in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes ''Regions of France, région'' of France. It is the second largest List of tire companies, tyre manufacturer in the world behind Bridgestone and larger than both Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company, Goodyear and Continental AG, Continental. In addition to the Michelin brand, it also owns the Kléber tyres company, United States Rubber Company, Uniroyal-Goodrich Tire Company, SASCAR, Bookatable and Camso brands. Michelin is also notable for its Red and Green Michelin Guide, travel guides, its Road map, roadmaps, the Michelin stars that the Red Guide awards to restaurants for their cooking, and for its company mascot ''Michelin Man, Bibendum'', colloquially known as the Michelin Man. Public Company
A public company is a company whose ownership is organized via shares of stock which are intended to be freely traded on a stock exchange or in over-the-counter markets. A public (publicly traded) company can be listed on a stock exchange (listed company), which facilitates the trade of shares, or not (unlisted public company).
