Michael Wong (actor)
Michael Fitzgerald Wong Wong Man-tak (; born 16 April 1965) is a Chinese-American actor based in Hong Kong. He is fluent in English, but not in Chinese, which is reflected in many of the characters he has portrayed. His most notable film is the 1998 film ''Beast Cops'' which won a Hong Kong Film Award with Wong in the lead role. As of 2004, he has appeared in over fifty films in twenty-one years, often in very minor roles. Early life Michael Wong was born and raised in Troy, New York, the son of restaurateur, William Wong, and an American artist of Dutch and French descent, Connie Van Yserloo. His brothers, Russell Wong and Declan Wong, would also become actors in the Hong Kong film industry. After finishing high school, he left to go to Hong Kong to try his luck in acting. Michael Wong Kong Leong (; Hakka Pha̍k-fa-sṳ: Vòng Kông-liòng; born 30 August 1970), also known mononymously by his Chinese name Guang Liang, is a Malaysian Chinese singer and composer who has sung and written many love-themed ballads and love songs, many of which have high popularity. He is popularly known in the Mandopop scene as the "Prince of Love Songs" (情歌王子). Wong began his singing career in a duo with Victor Wong. The pair had attained notable success in Taiwan, but in a mutual agreement, the two split in 2000. Wong has released five solo albums since then, the third one being his breakthrough album, ''Fairy Tale''. He has achieved a great success in Taiwan, mainland China, Hong Kong and Malaysia where he is based. Michael Anthony Wong (born January 14, 1955 in Minneapolis, Minnesota) is an American retired ice hockey forward who played in 22 games for the Detroit Red Wings during the 1975–76 season. He is also a former Minnesota Golden Gloves boxing champion. He was drafted 7th (77th overall) in the 1975 NHL Amateur Draft. Wong is of Chinese descent. Professional career Wong played junior hockey in Minnesota and was called upon to join the American national junior team 1974 World Junior Championships. This was the first year of the tournament and was held in Leningrad. Wong did not score a point in five games. Wong joined the Montreal Bleu Blanc Rouge of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League. In the 1974–75 season he recorded 27 goals and 41 assists for 67 points. The Red Wings selected Wong with their 7th pick, 77th overall, in the 1975 NHL Amateur Draft. Michael Wong Wai-lun, JP (; born 1962) is a Hong Kong government official who has been Deputy Financial Secretary since 2022. Early life Wong received a Bachelor of Social Sciences Degree from the University of Hong Kong and a Bachelor of Laws Degree from the University of London (External Programme). Career He joined the Administrative Service in August 1985.
