Michael Wiseman (rower)
Michael Wiseman (born 24 June 1977) is an Australian former lightweight rower, a world champion and national champion. He won a gold medal at the 1997 World Rowing Championships in Aiguebelette in the lightweight men's eight. Club and state rowing Wiseman attended Sydney Church of England Grammar School where he took up rowing. His senior club rowing was from the Sydney University Boat Club. Wiseman rowed in five consecutive New South Wales representative men's lightweight fours contesting the Penrith Cup at the Interstate Regatta within the Australian Rowing Championships from 1996 to 2000. Those New South Wales crews of 1997 and 1998 were victorious. International representative rowing Wiseman first represented Australia aged just eighteen in the lightweight coxless four at the 1995 World Rowing U23 Championships at Groningen in The Netherlands where the Australian four won the silver medal. Linley Point is a small peninsular suburb located on the Lower North Shore of Sydney , in the local government area of the Municipality of Lane Cove, in the state of New South Wales, Australia. It is approximately 10 kilometres north-west of the Sydney central business district by car. Lyall McCarthy
Lyall McCarthy OAM (born 19 May 1956) is a former Australian national champion lightweight rower and national rowing coach. He has coached Australian crews to gold medals at the World Rowing Championships and the Olympic Games. Club and state rowing McCarthy competed as a lightweight oarsman and rowed for a number of clubs in Sydney and in Melbourne over a fifteen year first class rowing career from 1977 to 1992. He contested national championships titles at the Australian Rowing Championships in Drummoyne Rowing Club lightweight crews in 1977 & 1978. In 1980 he competed for the national lightweight pair title racing for the Mercantile Rowing Club. In 1981 he moved to the Melbourne University Boat Club, the home of the world champions Simon Gillett and Charles Bartlett. He won his first Australian national title in MUBC colours in a lightweight eight with Gillett, Bartlett and Peter Antonie and also contested the national lightweight coxless four title that year. Hazewinkel
The Hazewinkel is a 2,000 m rowing and regatta course belonging to Bloso in Heindonk, municipality of Willebroek, near Mechelen, Belgium. The site consists of a finishing tower, boathouses, a cafeteria and eight basic huts that house athletes using the lake. Coxed Four
A coxed four, also known as a 4+, is a rowing boat used in the sport of competitive rowing. It is designed for four persons who propel the boat with sweep oars and is steered by a coxswain. The crew consists of four rowers, each having one oar, and a cox. There are two rowers on the stroke side (rower's right hand side) and two on the bow side (rower's lefthand side). The cox steers the boat using a rudder and may be seated at the stern of the boat where there is a view of the crew or in the bow (known as a bowloader). With a bowloader, amplification is needed to communicate with the crew which is sitting behind, but the cox has a better view of the course and the weight distribution may help the boat go faster. A coxless four is a rowing boat used in the sport of competitive rowing. It is designed for four persons who propel the boat with sweep oars, without a coxswain. The crew consists of four rowers, each having one oar. There are two rowers on the stroke side (rower's right hand side) and two on the bow side (rower's lefthand side).
