Michael Welch (footballer)
Michael Welch (born 11 January 1982) is a football coach and former player. Born in England, he is a former Republic of Ireland youth international. Career Welch was born in Crewe. His other previous clubs include Barnsley and Macclesfield Town. A former Republic of Ireland youth international, he was signed by Stanley prior to the start of the 2005–06 season after creating a superb impression in the pre season games. He started his career as a trainee at Barnsley and on his release in 2001, he was signed by Macclesfield going on to make his debut towards the end of his first season. Before leaving he made over a century of appearances. In December 2006, a goal he scored against Stockport was awarded the accolade of coming second in the "Goal of the Year 2006" competition, bettered only by a goal scored by Argentina in the FIFA World Cup. Crewe
Crewe () is a railway town and civil parish in the unitary authority of Cheshire East in Cheshire, England. The Crewe built-up area had a total population of 75,556 in 2011, which also covers parts of the adjacent civil parishes of Willaston, Shavington cum Gresty and Wistaston. Crewe is perhaps best known as a large railway junction and home to Crewe Works; for many years, it was a major railway engineering facility for manufacturing and overhauling locomotives, but now much reduced in size. Middlewich is a town in the unitary authority of Cheshire East and the ceremonial county of Cheshire, England, east of Chester, east of Winsford, southeast of Northwich and northwest of Sandbach. The population at the 2011 Census was 13,595. Middlewich lies at the confluence of three rivers, the Dane, Croco and Wheelock. Three canals also pass through the town, the Shropshire Union, Trent and Mersey, and the Wardle Canal, as well as three major roads, the A533, A54 and A530; Middlewich also has good motorway links to the nearby cities of Manchester and Liverpool.
