Michael Turnbull (soccer)
Michael David Turnbull (born 24 March 1981) is an Australian former professional footballer, businessman, and television personality who played as goalkeeper and reality television contestant. Turnbull was a member of the Australian squad at the 2000 Summer Olympics in Sydney, and played in two FIFA World Youth Championships. Turnball also featured as one of the bachelors on Network Ten's ''The Bachelorette Australia'' in 2015. Club career Turnbull played with Marconi Stallions in the National Soccer League between 1997 and 2004. In 2000, he briefly trained with AS Roma, however was never signed by the Italian club. After leaving Marconi, Turnbull signed with Belgian team Standard Liège, however he was unable to break into the first team. After leaving Belgium he signed with Bristol City for three years in England but had to return to Australia due to work visa issues. The 2000 Summer Olympics, officially the Games of the XXVII Olympiad and also known as Sydney 2000 (Dharug: ''Gadigal 2000''), the Millennium Olympic Games or the Games of the New Millennium, was an international multi-sport event held from 15 September to 1 October 2000 in Sydney, New South Wales, Australia. The 2001 FIFA World Youth Championship took place in Argentina between 17 June and 8 July 2001. The 2001 championship was the 13th contested. Football Australia is the governing body of soccer, futsal, and beach soccer within Australia, headquartered in Sydney. A-League Men (known as the Isuzu UTE A-League for sponsorship reasons) is the highest-level professional men's soccer league in Australia and New Zealand. At the top of the Australian league system, it is the country's premier men's competition for the sport. The National Premier League Queensland, run by Football Queensland, is the top tier state-level football (soccer) competition in Queensland. The conference is a sub division of the National Premier Leagues. The inaugural season kicked off in March 2013 and consisted of 12 teams. Each team will be expected to field a senior team, five junior men's teams from under-12 to under-20 starting in 2013 and women's junior teams in under-13, under-15, and under-17 starting in 2014. The National Soccer League (NSL) was the top-level soccer league in Australia, run by Soccer Australia and later the Australian Soccer Association. Marconi Stallions Football Club is an Australian semi-professional soccer club based in Fairfield, Sydney, New South Wales. The club has been crowned Australian champion four times. The Stallions are the soccer team of Club Marconi, a social and sporting club founded in 1958 by immigrants from Italy who settled in Sydney's western suburbs. It earned promotion to the top tier of soccer in New South Wales and established itself as one of the strongest clubs in Sydney during the 1970s, before becoming a founding member of the National Soccer League in 1977.
