Michael Thomson (journalist)
Michael Thomson (born 23 August 1960) is an Australian news presenter and journalist. He is currently the presenter of '' Nine News Perth'' on weeknights at 6:00 pm and the national late-night news bulletin on Mondays to Thursdays. Career Thomson began his career working with newspaper Daily News in 1980. In 1987, he joined the Nine Network's news program Nine News Perth as a crime reporter, then becoming a sports reporter and presenter. He has covered the Commonwealth Games in Canada in 1994, the Olympic Games in Atlanta in 1996 and Olympic Games in Sydney in 2000. In 2000, Thomson was awarded the Australian Sports Medal. Thomson left the network in 2011 to become the Marketing and Communications Manager at Surf Life Saving WA, and returned in 2013 to become Head of Sport for STW9. The ''Daily News'', historically a successor of ''The Inquirer'' and ''The Inquirer and Commercial News'', was an afternoon daily English language newspaper published in Perth, Western Australia, from 1882 to 1990, though its origin is traceable from 1840. Australian Sports Medal
The Australian Sports Medal is an award given to recognise achievements in Australian sport to commemorate Australian participation in major sporting events. Original recipients of the award included competitors, coaches, sports scientists, office holders, and people who maintained sporting facilities and services. During the original period of its award in 2000–2001, over 18,000 medals were awarded. The award was permanently reactivated in 2020 to commemorate Australian contributions and participation in major multi-sport events. Emmy Kubainski
Emmy Kubainski (born 1986) is an Australian journalist and news presenter. Career Kubainski moved to Western Australia after securing a national cadetship with the ABC in 2005. Kubainski graduated from the Queensland University of Technology with a Bachelor of Laws and a Masters in Journalism. In 2007, Kubainski won the Best Newcomer Prize at the WA Media Awards. Kubainski joined Channel 7 Perth in October 2007 as a reporter and began presenting '' Seven News Perth'' weekend news in June 2008 as well as being the court reporter. Peter John Overton, (born 5 April 1966) is an Australian television journalist and news presenter. He is currently the presenter for Nine News Sydney from Sunday to Thursday at 6 pm. Early life and family Born in England, Overton moved to Australia at age two after his parents returned home to the country. He grew up in Longueville, a suburb on the Lower North Shore of Sydney. TV Tonight is an Australian-based website which features reviews, news and programming information related to television in Australia as well as OzTAM ratings information. The site was started by television critic David Knox in 2007 after listeners of his radio programs asked him for information they had missed. Knox runs the site, publishing his interviews with Australian media actors, producers, directors and programmers.
