Michael Simpson (born 1940) is a British painter. Simpson has had major solo shows at the Serpentine (1985), the Arnolfini (1996), Spike Island (2016), and BlainSouthern (2017), and in 2016 won the John Moores Painting Prize for his painting ''Squint (19)''. Career Born in Dorset of Anglo-Russian parents, he attended Bournemouth College of Art (1958–60) and the Royal College of Art (1960–63). Simpson makes large scale paintings in ongoing series. These often repeat and rework a number of subjects and elements. Simpson's influences includes early Flemish painting, and his painting style incorporates minimalism and other types of formal restraints. He describes his approach to painting as a "deceptive force of the constructed image." Michael Simpson (producer)
Michael Simpson, also known as "E.Z. Mike", is an American record producer. Along with John King, he makes up one-half of the Los Angeles-based producing duo the Dust Brothers, who co-wrote and produced many critically acclaimed records including the Beastie Boys' ''Paul's Boutique'' and Beck's ''Odelay''. He won a Grammy Award for his song writing & production on Santana's '' Supernatural'' album in 1999. He has also done producing on his own - most notable is his work with the Eels. Simpson went on to compose the scores for the films '' Road Trip'', ''Saving Silverman'', ''Freddy Got Fingered'' and ''Stick It'', where in addition to composing the original score, he teamed up with rapper Talib Kweli to produce and perform the song "Abra Cadabra". Mike Simpson (Caulfields)
The Caulfields were an American alternative rock band from Newark, Delaware which recorded two albums for A&M Records in the late 1990s. The group was led by singer-songwriter John Faye, the frontman for the Philadelphia-based groups IKE. The group is best known for their song "Devil's Diary." Their first album was 1995's ''Whirligig''. The album's initial single was "Devil's Diary", which received limited radio play as well as exposure on MTV. "Devil's Diary" peaked at No. 61 in Australia. The band toured Australia on the back of airplay on popular youth radio station Triple J, supporting Australian band Died Pretty. Two weeks before the release of their second album ''L'' in 1997, A&M Records fired the A&R executive representing the band. Six months later the Caulfields disbanded. Mickey Simpson (December 3, 1913 – September 23, 1985) was an American supporting actor of burly roles, probably most familiar as "Sarge," the bigoted diner owner in the 1956 film, ''Giant''. He appeared in over 175 films and television episodes. Career Born to Fred and Bertha Rogers Simpson, his paternal heritage was Irish. He was the eldest of four sons, one of whom, Richard, died in childhood. When his father, a contractor, was unable to work following the 1929 stock market crash, his mother supported the family as a waitress. By his twenties, Simpson had grown into a hulking figure and considered a boxing career. He has been referred to in some sources as the 1935 "New York City Heavyweight Boxing Champion," but the only official records of his ring work are for two fights in Los Angeles in 1939, both of which he lost. The district covers most of the eastern portion of the state, including Idaho Falls, Pocatello, Sun Valley, Twin Falls and the northern two-thirds of Boise.
