Michael Schwartz (born April 4, 1970), better known by his stage name Mix Master Mike, is an American turntablist best known for his work with Beastie Boys. Life and career Born in San Francisco, California, Mix Master Mike is of German and Filipino descent. Mix Master Mike came to prominence upon winning the 1992 New Music Seminar/Supermen Inc. DJ Battle for World Supremacy in New York City, becoming the first West Coast DJ ever to do so. In the same year Mix Master Mike won the DMC World DJ Championships as a member of the turntablism collective Rock Steady DJs with DJ Qbert and DJ Apollo, establishing Mix Master Mike as one of the pre-eminent DJs in the industry. Michael Herman Schwartz (born May 9, 1942) is an American sociologist and prominent critic of the Iraq war. He is a Distinguished Teaching Professor Emeritus of Sociology at the State University of New York at Stony Brook in New York, where he also serves as faculty director of the Undergraduate College of Global Studies and Chair of the Sociology Department. Schwartz has written extensively in the areas of economic sociology and social movements. Michael Schwartz (born October 12, 1961, Brooklyn, New York) is an American physician who specializes in the field of ringside medicine. As Chief Ringside Physician for Professional Boxing and Mixed Martial Arts, he was responsible for creating many of the medical protocols utilized in boxing. He founded the first Medical Association for Professional Ringside Physicians. Michael Schwartz (born July 29, 1937) is an American academic administrator who served as president of Kent State University and later in the same position at Cleveland State University (CSU). While at CSU he phased out open admissions for college undergraduates. Biography Schwartz was educated as a sociologist, with all his degrees (BS, MA, Ph.D.) from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. He was on the faculty of Indiana University, Wayne State University and Florida Atlantic University. Michael Schwartz (1950 – February 3, 2013) was an American leader in the United States anti-abortion movement, a co-founder of the March for Life, and was a founding chairman of the Planned Parenthood watchdog organization Life Decisions International. In 1995, Schwartz was named executive director of the House Family Congressional Caucus. He also worked as a vice president for Concerned Women for America. He was a member of Operation Rescue and Chief of Staff to Senator Tom Coburn until 2000, and from 2004 to 2012. Williams Endowed Chair, Professor of Medicine in the Division of Metabolism, Endocrinology and Nutrition at the University of Washington and Director of the UW Medicine Diabetes and Obesity Center of Excellence.
