Michael Rippon
Michael James Rippon (born 14 September 1991) is a South African-born cricketer. He current plays international cricket for New Zealand, having previously also played for the Netherlands national cricket team. He is a right-handed batsman who bowls left-arm unorthodox spin. Personal life Rippon was born in Cape Town on 14 September 1991. He lived in the Netherlands for three years as a young child, his Dutch grandfather having immigrated to South Africa in the 1970s. He began playing club cricket in the Netherlands at the age of 15, after his coach Ryan Maron recruited him to play for VRA Amsterdam. He attended Rondebosch Boys' High School in Cape Town. Easterns Cricket Team
Easterns (formerly Eastern Transvaal) has played first-class cricket in South Africa since October 1991, and List A cricket since October 1989. For the purposes of the SuperSport Series, Easterns has merged with Northerns (formerly Northern Transvaal) to form the Titans. Eastern Transvaal was spun off from Northern Transvaal at a meeting in Actonville, Benoni. Easterns was called Eastern Transvaal from October 1989 until February 1995, changing its name after the Transvaal became Gauteng and a new province called ''Eastern Transvaal'' (later Mpumalanga) was formed that excluded East Rand territories that were part of the Eastern Transvaal cricket team. South African Airways Provincial Challenges
The CSA Provincial Competitions are three South African domestic cricket competitions run by Cricket South Africa (CSA). Three-day ( first-class) and one-day (List A) competitions were introduced for the 2004–05 season, while a Twenty20 competition was introduced for the 2011–12 season. The CSA competitions are predominantly contested by South African provincial teams, the number of which has been fixed at thirteen since the 2007–08 season. A non-South African team, Namibia, has competed since the 2006–07 season, while two invitational teams from Zimbabwe competed in the early seasons. Prior to the introduction of the CSA competitions, the South African provincial teams competed in the Sunfoil Series (better known as the Currie Cup) and the domestic one-day tournament (known under various names). City Oval
City Oval (formerly Alexandra Park and sometimes called the Pietermaritzburg Oval), is a multi-purpose stadium in Pietermaritzburg, South Africa. The 12,000 capacity stadium is currently used predominantly for cricket matches, with the ground being used by KwaZulu-Natal Inland men's and women's teams, KwaZulu-Natal and Dolphins (who also play at Kingsmead, Durban), and hosted two matches during the 2003 Cricket World Cup. KwaZulu-Natal Inland Cricket Team
KwaZulu-Natal Inland are a South African first-class cricket team who are based in Pietermaritzburg. They form part of the Dolphins franchise and are one of five South African associate teams. Their home games are played at Pietermaritzburg Oval. KwaZulu-Natal Inland were granted first-class status in 2006 and took part in the 2006-07 South African Airways Provincial Three-Day Challenge. They continue to take part in the Provincial Three-Day Challenge tournament and the Provincial One-Day Competition. First-class Cricket
First-class cricket, along with List A cricket and Twenty20 cricket, is one of the highest-standard forms of cricket. A first-class match is one of three or more days' scheduled duration between two sides of eleven players each and is officially adjudged to be worthy of the status by virtue of the standard of the competing teams. Matches must allow for the teams to play two innings each, although in practice a team might play only one innings or none at all. The etymology of "first-class cricket" is unknown, but it was used loosely before it acquired official status in 1895, following a meeting of leading English clubs. Boland Cricket Team
The Boland is a first-class cricket team that nominally represents the Boland region, in the South African province of Western Cape, in the CSA Provincial Competitions. The team is selected and supported by the Boland Cricket Board (BCB) and plays its home games at Boland Park in Paarl. At organisational level, the BCB is responsible for the administration and development of cricket in the region and among its primary functions are management and promotion of the Boland team. Bowling Average
In cricket, a player's bowling average is the number of runs they have conceded per wicket taken. The lower the bowling average is, the better the bowler is performing. It is one of a number of statistics used to compare bowlers, commonly used alongside the economy rate and the strike rate to judge the overall performance of a bowler. When a bowler has taken only a small number of wickets, their bowling average can be artificially high or low, and unstable, with further wickets taken or runs conceded resulting in large changes to their bowling average. Due to this, qualification restrictions are generally applied when determining which players have the best bowling averages. The Warriors are a Division 1 cricket team representing the Eastern Cape in South African domestic competitions. The Warriors take part in the CSA 4-Day Series first-class competition, the Momentum One-Day Cup and the Mzansi Super League T20 competition. 2010–11 Standard Bank Pro20
The 2010–11 Standard Bank Pro20 was the eighth season of the Standard Bank Pro20 Series, established by the Cricket South Africa. The series was played between 28 January – 13 March 2011. Venues Rules and regulations The tournament is divided into a group stage and a knockout stage. In the group stage, teams face each other in a single round-robin tournament. At the end of the group stage, the top four teams qualify for the semi-finals.
