Michael P. Johnson
Michael Paul Johnson (born December 20, 1942) is emeritus professor of sociology, women's studies, and African and African American studies at Pennsylvania State University, having taught there for over thirty years. It is where he developed his typology (known as "Johnson's typology") for describing intimate partner violence. Johnson is an "expert on domestic violence". He was a member of the editorial boards of the ''Journal of Family Theory and Review'' and the ''Journal of Marriage and Family''. The Ridge-and-Valley Appalachians, also called the Ridge and Valley Province or the Valley and Ridge Appalachians, are a physiographic province of the larger Appalachian division and are also a belt within the Appalachian Mountains extending from southeastern New York in the north through northwestern New Jersey, westward into Pennsylvania through the Lehigh Valley, and southward into Maryland, West Virginia, Virginia, Kentucky, Tennessee, Georgia, and Alabama.
