The Michael Moon Band was a New York–based alternative rock group active in the late 1990s. Michael Moon was the stage name for Michael Anthony Franano. Franano, formerly from the bands The Front and Bakers Pink and The Michael Moon Band released one pop album in 1998 titled, ''You''. The Michael Moon Band made a cameo appearance under the name Michael Moon/El Flamingo Band in the Woody Allen / Miramax film, ''Celebrity'', performing the single ''Chanel No. 5'' in a club scene while Kenneth Branagh dances with Charlize Theron. Michael is also credited for writing, composing and performing the music on ''Lynn's Wake'', an independent film and Winner of the Best Short Screenplay in the Atlantic City Film Festival in 1999. Michael Anthony Franano (born 1964) is an American rock singer/songwriter and musician known for his work in the hard rock and alternative genres. History In 1989–90, Michael Anthony Franano achieved commercial success as singer/songwriter of The Front, a band originally from Kansas City, Missouri. After the CBS release of their self-titled album, and single, ''Fire'' reached number 29 on the Billboard Rock charts. He has since released two more albums. The first was after The Front changed their name to Bakers Pink and released a self-titled album on Epic Records in 1993. He released a solo album in 1998 on Mutiny Records (Warner/Sire) under the name Michael Moon. Bakers Pink is an American alternative rock band from New York City, New York, New York (state), NY; formed in the early 1990s Originally known as The Front (band), The Front, from Kansas City, Missouri, Kansas City, Missouri, MO, the band changed its name when it joined Epic Records. Officially the band name change occurred because the band had changed their sound significantly and wanted to distance itself from its former incarnation, however, according to the front man, Michael Anthony Franano, it was at the behest of the record company. The Front was an American rock band, originally formed in 1984 in Kansas City, Missouri, who enjoyed a brief popularity in the late 1980s and early 1990s. Although originally offered a recording contract in 1987 with Sire/Warner Brothers Records; The Front signed an exclusive management contract with Scott and Doc McGhee of McGhee Entertainment; the team behind Bon Jovi, Mötley Crüe, Scorpions and Skid Row. A bidding war began with The Front ultimately signing with CBS Records in 1989.
