Michael Laurence
Michael Laurence (24 November 1935 – 23 March 2015) was an Australian actor, producer, director and screenwriter best known for creating TV serial ''Return to Eden''. Biography He began his career as a child actor on Sydney radio, before winning a scholarship at 18 to the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art, before appearing in theatre productions, including everything from Shakespearean roles to musicals. He created, directed and starred in the Nine Network production ''The Godfathers'', which won the Logie Award for Best Comedy in 1971. He worked on the popular serial ''Number 96'', and other successful miniseries including the children's series The Lost Islands, a 22-part story on Network Ten, ''Which Way Home'', '' The Last Frontier'' and ''Shadow of the Cobra''. His work, including more than 200-hour of commercial television, was sold to numerous countries. Return To Eden
''Return to Eden'' is an Australian television drama series starring Rebecca Gilling, James Reyne, Wendy Hughes and James Smillie. It began as a three-part, six-hour mini-series shown on Network Ten on September 27–29, 1983. Gilling and Smillie reprised their roles, with Peta Toppano replacing Hughes, for a 22-part weekly series that began airing on 10 February 1986. ''Return to Eden'' was created by Michael Laurence, and was also an international success, particularly in Russia and France where it has been shown 13 times. The Long Arm (TV Series)
''The Long Arm'' was an Australian television police series shown in April 1970, it ran for 19 episodes. Synopsis The series was produced in black-and-white by Ansett Television Films and made in-house by the Ten Network as part of an attempt to rival the popular police dramas produced by Crawford Productions such as ''Homicide'' and ''Division 4''. ''The Long Arm'' was set in Melbourne, with segments shot in Sydney. Its episodes were based on real-life cases, and it attempted to introduce a soap opera feel by examining the private lives of the detectives. The series was produced by Ron Beck and starred Robert Bruning, Sandy Harbutt, Lyndall Moor and Barbara Mason. Kenneth Goodlet and Tony Ward appeared in semi-regular roles. The series was criticized for some excessively gory make-up on murder victims for its prime time slot.
