Michael Laffy
Michael Laffy (born 16 October 1967) is a former Australian rules footballer with the Richmond Football Club, and was also a contestant on the second season of the Australian version of ''The Mole'' where he was revealed as ''The Mole''. Playing career Michael Laffy played only 26 AFL/VFL games in an injury-marred career, mainly as a defender. ''The Mole'' A decade after his retirement from the AFL, Laffy applied to be a contestant on the second season of the Australian version of ''The Mole''. At the time, his main occupation was a builder, whilst he was also known as a former AFL player. Laffy was revealed as ''The Mole'' at the end of the series; he committed over ten sabotages during the series. Australian Rules Football
Australian football, also called Australian rules football or Aussie rules, or more simply football or footy, is a contact sport played between two teams of 18 players on an oval field, often a modified cricket ground. Points are scored by kicking the oval ball between the central goal posts (worth six points), or between a central and outer post (worth one point, otherwise known as a "behind"). During general play, players may position themselves anywhere on the field and use any part of their bodies to move the ball. The primary methods are kicking, handballing and running with the ball. There are rules on how the ball can be handled; for example, players running with the ball must intermittently bounce or touch it on the ground. Throwing the ball is not allowed, and players must not get caught holding the ball. Richmond Football Club
The Richmond Football Club, nicknamed the Tigers, is an Australian rules football team playing in the Australian Football League (AFL). Between its inception in the Melbourne suburb of Richmond in 1885 and 1907, the club competed in the Victorian Football Association (VFA), winning two premierships. Richmond joined the Victorian Football League (now known as the AFL) in 1908 and has since won 13 premierships, most recently in 2020. Richmond's headquarters and training facilities are located at its original home ground, the Punt Road Oval, which sits adjacent to the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG), the club's playing home since 1965. Richmond traditionally wears a black guernsey with a yellow sash. The club song, " We're From Tigerland", is well known for its "yellow and black" refrain. The second season of the Australian version of '' The Mole'' originally aired from 21 February 2001 to 25 April 2001. It took place in Victoria and was hosted by Grant Bowler. Details Unlike other seasons of ''The Mole'', this season began with sixteen players, which were whittled down to ten in what was referred to as the "last step" in the audition process. The maximum prize amount in this season was $200,000. Filming took place throughout November and December in late 2000. More than 5,000 people auditioned to be on the show.
