Michael J. Sullivan (mayor)
Michael J. Sullivan (born December 18, 1956) was the mayor of the City of Lawrence, Massachusetts. A Republican Party (United States), Republican, Sullivan became the mayor in 2001 after beating Isabel Melendez. He was re-elected in 2005 beating Marcos A. Devers, Marcos Devers in non-partisan elections. Although he formed an exploratory committee to enter the Massachusetts's 5th congressional district special election, 2007, Special Election to replace Congressman Marty Meehan, Sullivan ultimately decided not to run and endorsed Republican candidate Jim Ogonowski. Lawrence is a city located in Essex County, Massachusetts, United States, on the Merrimack River. At the 2020 census, the city had a population of 89,143. Surrounding communities include Methuen to the north, Andover to the southwest, and North Andover to the east. Lawrence and Salem were the county seats of Essex County, until the Commonwealth abolished county government in 1999. Lawrence is part of the Merrimack Valley. William Lantigua
William Lantigua (born February 19, 1955) is a politician in Massachusetts. He became Mayor of Lawrence, Massachusetts, in January 2010 following his November 2009 defeat of Lawrence City Councilor David Abdoo. Upon taking office, Lantigua became the first elected and second serving Hispanic mayor in Massachusetts history. Early life and career William Lantigua was born in the Dominican Republic on February 19, 1955, to Enrique Lantigua and Ana Elvira Soto. Lantigua has three siblings- one sister and two brothers. Martin Thomas Meehan (born December 30, 1956) is an American academic administrator, politician, and attorney. Since July 2015, Meehan has served as the President of the University of Massachusetts after serving as Chancellor of the University of Massachusetts Lowell since September 2007.
