Michael J. L. Kirby
Michael J. L. Kirby (born August 5, 1941) is a Canadian politician. He sat in the Senate of Canada as a Liberal representing Nova Scotia. He is the former chair of the Mental Health Commission of Canada. Born in Montreal, Kirby earned a Bachelor of Science and Master of Arts in mathematics from Dalhousie University where he was a member of Phi Delta Theta Fraternity, and, also a Doctor of Philosophy in applied mathematics from Northwestern University. In the 1960s Kirby was a professor of business administration and public administration at Dalhousie and also taught at the University of Chicago and the University of Kent. Kirby worked as principal assistant to the Premier of Nova Scotia Gerald Regan from 1970 to 1973 and Assistant Principal Secretary to Prime Minister Pierre Trudeau from 1974 to 1976. Gerald Augustine Paul Regan (February 13, 1928 – November 26, 2019) was a Canadian politician (as federal MP and later as Nova Scotia MLA), who served as the 19th premier of Nova Scotia from 1970 to 1978. In archival science, a fonds is a group of documents that share the same origin and that have occurred naturally as an outgrowth of the daily workings of an agency, individual, or organization. An example of a fonds could be the writings of a poet that were never published or the records of an institution during a specific period. Fonds are a part of a hierarchical level of description system in an archive that begins with fonds at the top, and the subsequent levels become more descriptive and narrower as one goes down the hierarchy. The level of description goes from fonds to series to file and then an item level. Partners For Mental Health
Partners for Mental Health (PFMH) was a Canadian charitable organization that was active between 2012 and 2017. PFMH was formed in support of the Framework for a Mental Health Strategy for Canada, issued by the Mental Health Commission of Canada in 2009. The framework contained eight goals, including one to establish a broadly based social movement to drive change in mental health in Canada, which became PFMH's mandate. With the initiatives of PFMH now transferred to the Canadian Mental Health Association and Jack.org, PFMH's operations have been closed as of 2017. Activities PFMH was founded by Michael J.L. Roy John Romanow (born August 12, 1939) is a Canadian politician and the 12th premier of Saskatchewan from 1991 to 2001. Patriation
Patriation is the political process that led to full Canadian sovereignty, culminating with the Constitution Act, 1982. The process was necessary because under the Statute of Westminster 1931, with Canada's agreement at the time, the Parliament of the United Kingdom, British parliament had retained the power to amend Canada's British North America Acts, Constitution Acts (Statute of Westminster sec. 7(1)), and to enact more generally for Canada at the request and with the consent of the Dominion (sec. 4).
