Michael Guerra (musician)
Michael Edward Guerra (born September 9, 1981), is a California-based accordionist, music producer, studio musician, and singer/songwriter. Guerra has performed and recorded with various bands, including The Mavericks, and Raul Malo, and has also led his own band, The Michael Guerra Band. Since 2012, he has continuously been on tour and performs with the Mavericks. In the Summer of 2012, Guerra co-founded a production company DB Media Entertainment with songwriting partner D.R. Pedraza and produced his first film score for the short film "To Serve and Protect" In 2014, Guerra produced his second film score for "The Last Rose" In August 2015, Guerra produced his third film score for the film "My Tempest" and was nominated for Best Score in the 48 Hour Film Project, San Antonio In 2016, Guerra released a new single "Such A Girl Like That" under a new band, Michael Guerra & The Nights Calling. ''Lubbock Avalanche-Journal'' is a newspaper based in Lubbock, Texas, United States. It is owned by Gannett. History ''The Lubbock Avalanche'' was founded in 1900 by John James Dillard and Thad Tubbs. According to Dillard, the name "Avalanche" was chosen due to his desire that the newspaper surprise the citizens of Lubbock. The newspaper was sold to James Lorenzo Dow in 1908. Bajo sexto (Spanish: "sixth bass") is a Mexican string instrument from the guitar family with 12 strings in six double courses. A closely related instrument is the bajo quinto (Spanish: "fifth bass") which has 10 strings in five double courses. In playing, the left hand holds the strings against frets on a fingerboard, while the right hand plucks or strums the strings. When played in older styles of music where the instrument assumes the role of a bass, the strings are usually plucked with the fingers. ''Sacred'' is the Los Lonely Boys' fourth album and their second studio set, released on July 18, 2006. The original title of the album, as shown on the "Diamonds" single printed materials was to be "Òralé". "Diamonds", a revised version of the same song from the 1997 album, was the first single to be released on May 8, 2006. This was followed by the single release of "My Way". The album features a fuller sound than the earlier album, primarily due to extra instruments. The button accordion is prominently featured on "Texican Style", and harmonica on "Home". August "Augie" Meyers (born May 31, 1940) is an American musician, singer, songwriter, performer, studio musician, record producer, and record label owner. He is perhaps best known as a founding member of the Sir Douglas Quintet and the Texas Tornados. History He was born in San Antonio, Texas, United States. In the early 1960s, Meyers and Doug Sahm founded the Sir Douglas Quintet. Los Super Seven is an American supergroup which debuted in 1998. According to Allmusic's Stephen Thomas Erlewine, "Los Super Seven isn't a band, per se – it's a collective, organized by manager Dan Goodman, who comes up with a concept for each of the group's albums and assembles a band to fit." The collective has released three albums to date, with wildly varying personnel. Only Ruben Ramos and Rick Trevino are featured on all three releases. Texas Tornados is a Tejano supergroup, composed of some of country music's biggest artists who modernized the Tex-Mex style including Flaco Jiménez, Augie Meyers, Doug Sahm, and Freddy Fender. Its music is a fusion of conjunto (German and Norteño Mexican fusion music of Texas) with rock, country, and various Mexican styles. History The initial combination of Flaco Jiménez, Augie Meyers, and Doug Sahm performed in front of a San Francisco audience. After they initially performed as the Tex-Mex Revue, they took the title Texas Tornados, after Sahm's song "Texas Tornado", from the album of the same name. Los Texmaniacs is a conjunto band created by Max Baca in 1997. In 2010 Los Texmaniacs won a Grammy Award for Tejano Album of The Year "Borders y Bailes".
