Michael Granville
Michael Granville (born February 14, 1978) is a retired American 800 metres runner. He is known for being the National High School record holder in the race. Running for Bell Gardens High School he set the record of 1:46.45 in the trial round of the 1996 CIF California State Meet at Cerritos College in Norwalk, California. He went on to win the state meet the following day, but after setting the record he claims he just "dogged it." He had won the race two years earlier and was upset into second by Aaron Richburg, in a major surprise the year before. Granville also held the indoor 800 metres record (broken by Josh Hoey in 2018) and set the class record at 800 metres at all four levels of high school; 1:51.03 as a freshman, 1:48.98 as a sophomore and 1:47.96 as a junior. Bell Gardens is a city in the U.S. state of California in the Los Angeles metropolitan area. George Kersh (born March 7, 1968) is a former world-class runner and current high school running coach. High school While running for Pearl High School (Mississippi), Pearl High School Kersh broke the United States high school national records in track and field, national high school record twice in the 800m, with a best time of 1:46:58 on June 13, 1987. Palo Alto Senior High School, commonly referred to locally as "Paly", is a comprehensive public high school in Palo Alto, California. Operated by the Palo Alto Unified School District, the school is one of two schools in the district, the other being crosstown Gunn High School, for which the school has a rivalry with. Distance Medley Relay
The distance medley relay (DMR) is an athletic event in which four athletes compete as part of a relay. With its inclusion in the IAAF World Relays program, the IAAF announced on May 1, 2015 that the event would be an official world record event. Unlike most track relays, each member of the team runs a different distance. A distance medley relay is made up of a 1200-meter leg (three laps on a standard 400 meter track), a 400-meter leg (one lap), an 800-meter leg (two laps), and a 1600-meter leg (four laps) in that order. The total distance run is 4000 meters, or nearly 2.5 miles. Aside from the 400 meter segment, which is a sprint, all legs are a middle distance run.
