Michael Goulian
Michael George "Mike" Goulian (born September 4, 1968 in Winthrop, Massachusetts) is an American aerobatic national champion aviator who raced in the Red Bull Air Race World Series under the number 99. Biography Goulian was born into an aviation business family, which founded Executive Flyers Aviation, one of the largest flying schools in the Northeastern United States in 1964. Michael's father Myron Goulian (also known as "Mike") was an FAA examiner. Michael grew up by washing airplanes and sweeping the hangar floor. He learned to fly before he could drive a car and soloed in a Cessna 150 on his 16th birthday in 1984. Inspired by the 1980 movie ''Cloud Dancer'', Goulian began his aerobatic training in 1985 during his pilot study. He then established an aerobatic school within Executive Flyers Aviation. 2014 Red Bull Air Race World Championship
The 2014 Red Bull Air Race World Championship was the ninth season of Red Bull Air Race World Championship, and the first since 2010. In his seventh season in the series, British pilot Nigel Lamb became the champion for the first time, with consistent finishing being the key to his championship success. After starting the season slowly with just five points from the opening two events, Lamb won his first Air Race competition at Putrajaya Lake in Malaysia, before reeling off five consecutive second-place finishes. These results were good enough for him to surpass former champions Hannes Arch and Paul Bonhomme in the standings; Lamb ultimately finished nine points clear of Arch, with Bonhomme a further two points in arrears. 2010 Red Bull Air Race World Series Season
The 2010 Red Bull Air Race World Championship was the eighth official Red Bull Air Race World Championship series. Paul Bonhomme became champion for the second successive year, finishing each of the six rounds of the championship in the top three placings, two of which were victories. Hannes Arch was the only other round winner, taking four victories but finished four points behind Bonhomme, after an eleventh-place finish in the season-opener in the United Arab Emirates. Nigel Lamb finished third with three runner-up placings, and three fourth places. 2007 Red Bull Air Race World Series Season
The 2007 Red Bull Air Race World Series was the fifth Red Bull Air Race World Series season. New pilots Sergey Rakhmanin of Russia and Austrian Hannes Arch were chosen to join the 2007 series after completing a qualification course in October 2006, held in Arizona, United States. This takes the number of pilots to 13. Race calendar Three locations more were added to the race calendar in 2007, extending the number of rounds from 9 to 12. However, only 10 races were run due to cancellation of the legs in Barcelona, Spain and Acapulco, Mexico. The first race was held on April 6 in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates and the last one was on November 3 in Perth, Australia. 2006 Red Bull Air Race World Series Season
The 2006 Red Bull Air Race World Championship was the fourth Red Bull Air Race season and second as a World Championship. It began on March 18, 2006, and ended on November 19. In the 2006 season Rotterdam in the Netherlands, Zeltweg in Austria, and Rock of Cashel in Ireland were removed from the calendar. The number of races increased from seven to nine. The new places were Barcelona in Spain, Berlin in Germany, Saint Petersburg in Russia, Istanbul in Turkey and Perth in Australia. Only eight of the races were held after the cancellation of the 4th leg in Saint Petersburg. The race in Longleat, United Kingdom was also cancelled due to high winds, however, Friday's Qualifying results were used as the official race results. Michael Goulian from the US, who had paused in 2005, returned in 2006 to compete again as the 11th pilot. The 2004 Red Bull Air Race World Series was the second Red Bull Air Race World Series season. It debuted on June 20, 2004 and ended on September 18. In the 2004 season, the number of Air Race venues increased from two to three locations. The leg in Zeltweg Austria was removed and RAF Kemble (now called Cotswold Airport) in the United Kingdom became the season opener. Reno, Nevada in the United States was also added to the calendar. And the race in Budapest moved away from Tokol Airport, to the Danube, creating the first race over water.
