Michael E. McMahon
Michael E. McMahon (born September 12, 1957) is an American politician and attorney serving as the District Attorney for Richmond County, which is coextensive with Staten Island. A member of the Democratic Party, McMahon is a former U.S. Representative for , serving from 2009 until 2011, and a former member of the New York City Council. Early life, education and career McMahon is a lifelong resident of Staten Island. He is of German and Irish descent. He grew up in the Stapleton neighborhood on the North Shore and attended parochial schools. He graduated from New York University in 1979, later obtaining a J.D. degree from New York Law School. He then worked for Democratic State Assembly members Eric Vitaliano and Elizabeth Connelly. He joined the staff of City Councilman Jerome X. O'Donovan, whom he succeeded in the Council. The Richmond County District Attorney is the elected district attorney for Richmond County, coterminous with the Borough of Staten Island, in New York City. The Corps Saxo-Borussia Heidelberg is a German Student Corps at the University of Heidelberg. History Saxo-Borussia was established on 16 December 1820. Its motto is ''Virtus sola bonorum corona!''. In 1829 Robert Schumann became a lifelong member. During the Revolutions of 1848 in the German states the corps participated in founding the Kösener Senioren-Convents-Verband (KSCV), an association of German-speaking Student Corps. In the German Empire and in the Weimar Republic Saxo-Borussia was considered "the most distinguished corps of Christendom" – a reference to the 1st Foot Guards (German Empire). Wilhelm Meyer-Förster wrote a student novel (1885) and Mark Twain reported on his visit in A Tramp Abroad. Kurt Tucholsky taunted the corps with a poem. Corps (or Korps; "''das ~''" ('' n''), (''sg.''), (''pl.'')) are the oldest still-existing kind of ''Studentenverbindung'', Germany's traditional university corporations; their roots date back to the 15th century. The oldest corps still existing today was founded in 1789. Its members are referred to as corps students (''Corpsstudenten''). The corps belong to the tradition of student fraternities which wear couleur and practice academic fencing. Elizabeth Ann "Betty" Connelly (June 19, 1928 – May 25, 2006) was a politician from Staten Island, New York who represented the North Shore community from 1973 to 2000. She was the first woman to win elective office to any district encompassing Staten Island. Life and career She was born Elizabeth Ann Keresey on June 19, 1928, in Brooklyn, New York City. She grew up in Brooklyn and the Bronx. She and her husband, Robert V. Connelly, moved to Staten Island in 1954 and raised a family of four children. She worked as a secretary for the New York Life Insurance Company, and as a telephone sales associate for Pan American World Airways. She entered politics as a Democrat, and was elected in November 1973 to the New York State Assembly, to fill the vacancy caused by the appointment of Edward J. Eric Nicholas Vitaliano (born February 27, 1948) is a Senior United States district judge of the United States District Court for the Eastern District of New York. Vitaliano was nominated by President George W. Bush on October 6, 2005, to a seat vacated by Arthur D. Spatt. He was confirmed by the United States Senate on December 21, 2005, and received commission on January 19, 2006. Vitaliano suffers from glaucoma and is legally blind.
