Michael D. Navrkal
Michael D. Navrkal is a retired major general in the Army National Guard. Career Navrkal was commissioned an officer in 1981 and was assigned to the 67th Infantry Brigade in Nebraska City, Nebraska. He remained there until he was assigned to the 32nd Separate Infantry Brigade in Madison, Wisconsin in 1991. In 1996, Navrkal was assigned to the 35th Infantry Division in Lincoln, Nebraska. Later, he was deployed to serve in the Iraq War. He was named Assistant Adjutant General - Army of the Nebraska National Guard in 2011. In 2013, Navrkal was promoted to Major General and assumed command of the 35th Infantry Division. The Achievement Medal is a military decoration of the United States Armed Forces. The Achievement Medal was first proposed as a means to recognize outstanding achievement or meritorious service of military personnel who were not eligible to receive the higher Commendation Medal or the Meritorious Service Medal. An Overseas Service Ribbon is a service military award of the United States military which recognizes those service members who have performed military tours outside the borders of the United States of America. The Army Service Ribbon (ASR) is a military award of the United States Army that was established by the Secretary of the Army on 10 April 1981 as announced in Department of the Army General Order 15, dated 10 October 1990. The Military Outstanding Volunteer Service Medal (MOVSM) is a military award which was created under Executive Order 12830 by George H. W. Bush on January 9, 1993. The Global War on Terrorism Service Medal (GWOT-SM) is a military award of the United States Armed Forces which was created through Executive Order 13289 on 12 March 2003, by President George W. Bush. The medal recognizes those military service members who have supported operations to counter terrorism in the War on Terror from 11 September 2001, to a date yet to be determined. The Iraq Campaign Medal (ICM) is a military award of the United States Armed Forces which was created by Executive Order 13363 of U.S. President George W. Bush on 29 November 2004, and became available for general distribution in June 2005.
