Michael Cox (New Zealand Politician)
Michael Ernest Christopher Cox (born 10 May 1939) is a former New Zealand politician of the National Party. Biography Cox was born in 1939 at Oxford, England. He was in the British Merchant Navy, and was a chief officer with the Union Steam Ship Company before becoming a chartered accountant in Palmerston North. He represented the Manawatu electorate in Parliament from to 1987, when he was defeated by David Robinson. From 1981 to 1985 he was Junior Whip for the party. He was an opponent of National's then leader Robert Muldoon and was an organiser in the Colonels' Coup, an abortive attempt to remove him from the leadership of the party. In 1984 Cox was appointed Shadow Minister of Revenue by Muldoon. In 1985 he was additionally given the Customs portfolio by new leader Jim McLay. Michael E. Cox (born 1947) is a British academic and international relations scholar. He is currently Emeritus Professor of International Relations at the London School of Economics (LSE) and Director of LSE IDEAS. He also teaches for the TRIUM Global Executive MBA Program, an alliance of NYU Stern and the London School of Economics and HEC School of Management. Coal Chamber is an American nu metal band formed by Dez Fafara and Meegs Rascón in Los Angeles, California in 1993. Prior to Coal Chamber, the two had also created the band She's in Pain, in 1992. The original lineup also consisted of bassist Rayna Foss and drummer Jon Tor. Mike Cox replaced Tor on drums shortly afterwards, and thus the Coal Chamber lineup was complete. After signing to Roadrunner Records, they released their debut album, ''Coal Chamber'', in 1997. Michael A. Cox Sr. (born June 17, 1965) is an American police officer, currently serving as the commissioner of the Boston Police Department. Career In 1995, while a member of the Boston Police Department (BPD), Cox was severely beaten by fellow officers while working in plain clothes. The incident was initially "swept under the rug", but a lawsuit ultimately led to BPD settling with Cox for $900,000 in damages and attorneys' fees.
