Michael Coles (speedway Rider)
Michael Timothy Coles (born 11 August 1965 in Exeter, England), is a former international motorcycle speedway rider from England. Career Coles rode for a number of teams including Exeter Falcons, Edinburgh Monarchs and ended his career after riding with the Glasgow Tigers in the Premier League. In 1993, he helped Edinburgh win the Fours Championship during the 1993 British League Division Two season. Coles represented England at test level. Motorcycle speedway, usually referred to simply as speedway, is a motorcycle sport involving four and sometimes up to six riders competing over four anti-clockwise laps of an oval circuit. The motorcycles are specialist machines that use only one gear and have no brakes. Racing takes place on a flat oval track usually consisting of dirt, loosely packed shale, or crushed rock (mostly used in Australia and New Zealand). Competitors use this surface to slide their machines sideways, powersliding or broadsiding into the bends. On the straight sections of the track, the motorcycles reach speeds of up to . Connor Coles
Connor Coles (born 7 September 1994) is a speedway rider from England. Speedway career Coles began his speedway career riding for Rye House Raiders during the 2012 National League speedway season and then moved to Kent Kings for the 2013 National League speedway season. He then spent three seasons with the Mildenhall Fen Tigers, in which time he helped the team win the National Trophy. It was in 2017 that Coles moved up to the SGB Championship and rode for Newcastle Diamonds for the SGB Championship 2017 season. He also appeared for Eastbourne and the Isle of Wight in the third division. Following a season with Buxton he joined Edinburgh in the SGB Championship 2019 and Stoke in the NDL. In 2021, he rode for the Belle Vue Colts. In 2022, he rode for the Scunthorpe Scorpions and Plymouth Gladiators in the SGB Championship 2022 and Leicester Lion Cubs during the 2022 National Development League speedway season. The Great Britain Speedway Team (also known as GB Speedway Team) is one of the major teams in international speedway. The team is managed by former Great Britain riders Oliver Allen and Simon Stead, and captained by the 2018 Speedway World Champion Tai Woffinden.
