Michael Chua
Michael Chua is a film producer, film director and poet from Singapore. Michael graduated from the Film, Sound and Video department of Ngee Ann Polytechnic in 1997. Upon embarking on his professional career, he has directed and shot various projects of different genres, including music videos, commercials, TV dramas and feature length movies. In 2013, Michael started Skyshot with his business partner to add aerial and drones capabilities to his work. 2014 Cannes Film Festival
The 67th Cannes Film Festival was held from 14 to 25 May 2014. New Zealand film director Jane Campion was the head of the jury for the main competition section. The Palme d'Or was awarded to the Turkish film '' Winter Sleep'' directed by Nuri Bilge Ceylan. The festival opened with the long delayed '' Grace of Monaco'', directed by Olivier Dahan and starring Nicole Kidman as Grace Kelly, which played out of competition. The restored 4K version of Sergio Leone's 1964 western ''A Fistful of Dollars'', served as the closing night film. Cinéfondation
La ''Cinéfondation'' is a foundation under the aegis of the Cannes Film Festival, created to inspire and support the next generation of international filmmakers. It was created in 1998 by Gilles Jacob. Since then it has developed complementary programmes to help achieve its goal. Today it is divided into three different parts: *The Selection *The Residence *The Atelier. The Selection Each year, the Cinéfondation selects 15 to 20 short and medium-length films presented by film schools from all over the world. Oh Lucy! (2014 Film)
''Oh Lucy!'' is a short film directed by Atsuko Hirayanagi. The short film made its world premiere at the 2014 Cannes Film Festival receiving 2nd place in the Cinéfondation. Oh Lucy! has since become Academy Qualified by winning the Best International Short Film Award at the 2015 Flickerfest as well as the Short Film Jury Award: International Fiction at the 2015 Sundance Film Festival. Hirayanagi later made the film into a feature film version, released in 2017. Synopsis Setsuko, a 55-year-old single 'office lady' in Tokyo, is given a blonde wig and a new identity, "Lucy," by her young unconventional English instructor. "Lucy" awakens desires Setsuko never knew she had. When the instructor suddenly disappears, Setsuko must come to terms with what remains – herself. The Singapore International Film Festival (SGIFF) is an annual film festival held every year in Singapore. Founded in 1987, the festival is one of the most significant film festivals in Asia.
