Michael Choi (politician)
Michael Wai-Man Choi (born 4 March 1959) is an Australian Labor Party politician who represented the electoral district of Capalaba in the Legislative Assembly of Queensland. Political career Choi was elected to Parliament on 17 February 2001. He was appointed by Peter Beattie as a Parliamentary Secretary in 2006. Lindy Nelson-Carr
Lindel Helena Nelson-Carr (born 15 July 1952) is a former Australian politician who was the member of the Legislative Assembly of Queensland for Mundingburra from 1998 until she stood down at the 2012 state election. Parliamentary career Nelson-Carr was elected as Member for Mundingburra in the Parliament of Queensland at the election on 13 June 1998, when she achieved a swing of 6.7 per cent away from sitting Liberal MP Frank Tanti. She increased her margin to 10.54 per cent at the 2006 election; this result went against the statewide trend of a slight swing against Labor. Four days after the election, on 13 September 2006, Nelson-Carr was promoted to the Cabinet in the Beattie Ministry as Minister for Environment and Multiculturalism. The Parliament of Queensland is the legislature of Queensland, Australia. As provided under the Constitution of Queensland, the Parliament consists of the Monarch of Australia and the Legislative Assembly. It has been the only unicameral state legislature in the country since the upper chamber, the Legislative Council, was abolished in 1922. The Legislative Assembly sits in Parliament House in the state capital, Brisbane. 2012 Queensland State Election
The 2012 Queensland state election was held on 24 March 2012 to elect all 89 members of the Legislative Assembly, a unicameral parliament. The Labor Party (ALP), led by Premier Anna Bligh, was defeated by the opposition Liberal National Party (LNP), led by Campbell Newman. It is only the sixth time that Queenslanders have ousted a sitting government since 1915. The ALP was attempting to win a ninth consecutive election victory, having won every general election since 1989, despite being out of office between 1996 and 1998. Katter's Australian Party contested its first election. Before the election, it held two seats whose members had been elected as LNP candidates. Labor suffered one of the worst defeats of a state government since Federation, and the worst defeat of a sitting government in Queensland history.
