Miami Design District
The Miami Design District is a neighborhood in Miami, Florida, United States, and a shopping, dining and cultural destination. The Design District was redeveloped in the early 2000s under the direction of developer Craig Robins, president and CEO of Dacra, and L Real Estate with investment from General Growth Properties. It is home to over 130 art galleries, showrooms, creative services, architecture firms, luxury fashion stores, antiques dealers, eateries and bars. Historically a part of Buena Vista, the Design District is located south of Lemon City (Little Haiti). It is roughly bound by North 36 St (US 27) to the south, North 43rd Street to the north, West First Avenue to the west and Biscayne Boulevard to the east. Craig Robins
Craig Lewis Robins (born February 15, 1963) is an American businessman, investor, and philanthropist. He is the founder and CEO of Dacra Development, the co-founder and co-owner of Design Miami and developer of the Miami Design District. Early life and education Robins was born to a Jewish family in Miami Beach, FL. His father, Gerald Robins was a successful Miami Beach real estate developer who moved to Florida from New York City in the 1950s. He has a sister, Gina. In 1972, his parents divorced and his father remarried to Joan Benjamin who had two children from a previous marriage: Scott (born 1963) and Stacy (born 1965). Robins was greatly influenced by his father who worked extensively in Miami Beach and raised Craig and his three siblings on Star Island.
