Mezquitic
Mezquitic Municipality is a municipality in the north of the state of Jalisco, Mexico. It is bordered to the north east and west by the state of Zacatecas. It also shares its northern border with Huejuquilla el Alto Municipality and it shares its southern border with Villa Guerrero Municipality and Bolaños Municipality. The municipality includes a number of autonomously governed Wixárika (Huichol) communities, including San Andrés Cohamiata. The population in Mezquitic is predominantly Roman Catholic, while other denominations are present in the region like Jehovah Witness, as well as The Seventh-day Adventist church. Catholicism is primary religion in the region, as reflected in many religious festivities. Huichol People
The Huichol or Wixárika are an indigenous people of Mexico and the United States living in the Sierra Madre Occidental range in the states of Nayarit, Jalisco, Zacatecas, and Durango, as well as in the United States in the states of California, Arizona, New Mexico, and Texas. They are best known to the larger world as the ''Huichol'', although they refer to themselves as ''Wixáritari'' ("the people") in their native Huichol language. San Andrés Cohamiata is an autonomously governed Wixárika (Huichol) village located in Mezquitic, Jalisco, Mexico. The village is called ''Tatei Kié'' in the native Wixárika language. Bolaños Municipality
Bolaños Municipality is located in the north of the Mexican state of Jalisco. The municipality shares its border on the north with the municipalities of Mezquitic and Villa Guerrero and to the southeast with the municipality of Chimaltitán. To the south, it shares a border with the municipality of San Martín de Bolaños and to the southwest, it shares a border with the state of Nayarit. Climate Bolaños is surrounded with mountains and semi-desert and due to its topographical position in the canyon, Bolaños is often very hot.
