Mexico At The 2012 Summer Olympics
Mexico competed at the 2012 Summer Olympics in London, from 27 July to 12 August 2012. This was the nation's twenty-second appearance at the Olympics since its debut in 1900. Comité Olímpico Mexicano sent a total of 102 athletes to the Games, 64 men and 38 women, to compete in 23 sports. Men's football was the only team sport in which Mexico was represented at these Olympic Games. There was only a single competitor in badminton, sprint canoeing, and table tennis. The Mexican team featured several medal prospects for London, including taekwondo jin and defending champion María Espinoza, who was the nation's flag bearer at the opening ceremony. Equestrian show jumper Jaime Azcárraga, who had competed in Olympics since 1984, marked his return in London after a twenty-year absence and was also the oldest member of the team, at age 52. Mexican Olympic Committee
The Mexican Olympic Committee () (COM) is the organization that represents Mexico, Mexican athletes in the International Olympic Committee (IOC), the Pan American Games and the Central American and Caribbean Games. It was created and formally recognized by the IOC in 1923. The organization is currently directed by María José Alcalá. The Mexican Olympic Committee is headquartered in Mexico City, Mexico. Javier Cortés Granados (born 20 July 1989) is a former Mexican professional footballer who played as a midfielder. He is an Olympic gold medalist. Germán Sánchez (diver)
Germán Saúl Sánchez Sánchez (born 24 June 1992) is a Mexican diver. He is nicknamed "Duva". At the age of 16, he competed in the Men's individual 10m platform at the 2008 Summer Olympics and came in 22nd. He won one gold medal in the 2011 Pan-American Games. At the 2012 Summer Olympics in London, he won a silver medal in the synchronized 10m platform with his partner Iván García. In the individual 10m platform, Sánchez came 14th. In 2016, Sánchez took part in his third Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, where he came 5th in the synchronized 10m platform, again alongside Iván García. Twelve days later, Sánchez won the silver medal in individual 10m platform. and 9th in the semi-final. Soccer At The 2012 Summer Olympics
The association football tournament at the 2012 Summer Olympics was held from 25 July to 11 August, and was the only sport to begin before the official opening day of the Olympic Games, two days before the opening ceremony. It was also the only sport to be held at multiple venues outside London (the host city of the Olympics), with Manchester, Glasgow, Newcastle, Coventry and Cardiff all hosting matches. The finals were played at Wembley Stadium. Associations affiliated with FIFA were invited to send their senior women's and men's under-23 national teams to participate; men's teams were allowed to augment their squads with three players over the age of 23. Five hundred and four football players competed for two sets of gold medals. For these games, the men competed in a 16-team tournament and the women in a 12-team tournament. José Antonio "Toño" Rodríguez Romero (born 4 July 1992), is a Mexican professional footballer who plays as a goalkeeper for Liga MX club Tijuana and the Mexico national team. He is an Olympic gold medalist. Club career Rodríguez started his career for Liga MX club Guadalajara, and made his debut on 6 April 2013 against Jaguares. Néstor Alejandro Araujo Razo (born 29 August 1991) is a Mexican professional footballer who plays as a centre-back for Liga MX club América and the Mexico national team. He is an Olympic gold medalist.
