Mexico competed at the 1988 Summer Olympics in Seoul, South Korea. 83 competitors, 66 men and 17 women, took part in 82 events in 17 sports. Mexican Olympic Committee
The Mexican Olympic Committee () (COM) is the organization that represents Mexico, Mexican athletes in the International Olympic Committee (IOC), the Pan American Games and the Central American and Caribbean Games. It was created and formally recognized by the IOC in 1923. The organization is currently directed by María José Alcalá. The Mexican Olympic Committee is headquartered in Mexico City, Mexico. Shooting At The 1988 Summer Olympics
The shooting competitions at the 1988 Summer Olympics took place in Seoul, South Korea. Competitions were held in a total of thirteen events—seven men's events, four women's events, and two events open to both genders. It was the first games for the 10 metre air pistol events, and the last for the 50 metre running target event, later replaced by 10 metre running target. It was also the first time the Olympic shooting competitions included finals for the top eight (in some cases six) competitors. Aurora Bretón
Gonzala Aurora Bretón Gómez (10 January 1950 – 27 May 2014) was a Mexican archer who represented her country in four Olympic Games (1972, 1984, 1988 and 1992); won two silver and five bronze medals in Pan American Games and eight gold and two silver medals in Central American and Caribbean Games. After retiring from international competitions, she worked as Olympic coach, briefly served as sports commentator for a television network during the 2012 Summer Olympics and, controversially, chaired the Mexican Archery Federation, where she was forced to resign after being charged with visa fraud by the United States government and accused of sexual harassment by the family of an underage female athlete. Aurora Breton
An aurora (plural: auroras or aurorae), also commonly known as the polar lights, is a natural light display in Earth's sky, predominantly seen in high-latitude regions (around the Arctic and Antarctic). Auroras display dynamic patterns of brilliant lights that appear as curtains, rays, spirals, or dynamic flickers covering the entire sky. Auroras are the result of disturbances in the magnetosphere caused by the solar wind. Major disturbances result from enhancements in the speed of the solar wind from coronal holes and coronal mass ejections. These disturbances alter the trajectories of charged particles in the magnetospheric plasma. These particles, mainly electrons and protons, precipitate into the upper atmosphere ( thermosphere/exosphere).
