Federal Highway 307 ( es, Carretera Federal 307, Fed. 307) is a free part of the federal highway corridors ( es, los corredores carreteros federales) of Mexico. It consists of two discontinuous portions. One in the state of Quintana Roo, inland from the Caribbean coast, running from Cancún in the north to near Chetumal in the south. The other section of 307 is in the state of Chiapas, one end at Palenque, then going south east looping around the Reserva de la Biósfera Montes Azules, paralleling the Guatemalan border, then coming back west to La Trinitaria, Chiapas. Palenque, Chiapas
Palenque is a city and municipality located in the north of the state of Chiapas, Mexico. The city was named almost 200 years before the nearby Mayan ruins were discovered in the 18th century. The area has a significant indigenous population, mostly of the Ch'ol people, a Mayan descendant. The city is the only urban area in a municipality of over 600 communities, and is surrounded by rainforest. Deforestation has had dramatic effects on the local environment, with howler monkeys occasionally seen in the city as they seek food. Chetumal
Chetumal (, , ; yua, label=Yucatec Maya, Chactemàal , ) is a city on the east coast of the Yucatán Peninsula in Mexico. It is the capital of the state of Quintana Roo and the municipal seat of the Municipality of Othón P. Blanco. In 2020 it had a population of 169,028 people. The city is situated on the western side of Chetumal Bay, near the mouth of the Río Hondo. Chetumal is an important port for the region and operates as Mexico's main trading gateway with the neighboring country of Belize.
