Metropolitan Interscholastic Conference
The Metropolitan Interscholastic Conference or MIC is a secondary or more commonly used, high school athletic conference based in the Indianapolis Metropolitan area of Indiana. The conference was formed in 1996 in a time when independent schools joined schools with other existing conferences that were reorganizing or splitting up to form new conferences due to the initiation of class basketball. In recent years, the MIC has been recognized nationally as a superior secondary athletic conference to participate in athletics. The MIC also competes in other areas besides athletics. For example, there is a MIC choir competition and a MIC speech and debate tournament, as well as MIC Academic Challenge. On December 13, 2021, the Metropolitan Interscholastic Conference voted Carmel and Center Grove out of the MIC as the two schools had flirted with a move to the Hoosier Crossroads Conference. South Central Conference (Indiana)
The South Central Conference was an IHSAA-sanctioned conference from 1936 to 1997. The conference began as a collection of schools in mid-sized and large cities in South Central and Southeast Indiana, expanding into both Indianapolis (Washington and Southport) and far Southern Indiana (Jeffersonville). The conference had been as big as 10 in the 1950s, but was down to six schools in the 1980s. With Connersville and Rushville leaving in the advent of class basketball, being replaced by Bloomington North and Center Grove, the conference had shifted to a small conference of large schools. Greenwood is a city in Johnson County, Indiana, United States. The population was 63,830 at the 2020 Census. Greenwood is located between Indiana State Road 37 and Interstate 65. The city shares a border with Indianapolis and is the most populous suburban municipality in the southern portion of the Indianapolis Metropolitan Area. Center Grove High School is a high school located in Greenwood, Indiana. A part of Center Grove Community School Corporation, it serves western Greenwood and most of Bargersville. Olympic Conference (Indiana)
The Olympic Conference was an IHSAA-sanctioned conference located within Delaware, Fayette, Jay, and Madison counties. The conference was formed in 1971 by second (and third) high schools from Anderson, Kokomo, and Muncie, and also included suburban Indianapolis schools that grew too large for their conferences at the time. Many suburban schools ended up outgrowing the Olympic as well, with former members now in the Metropolitan and Hoosier Crossroads "superconferences," as the two contain many of the largest schools in the state. While hosting ten schools in two divisions at its largest, the conference spent the 2000s with five members, then four after Huntington North joined the North Central Conference.
