Metrocon is an annual three-day anime convention held during July/August at the Tampa Convention Center in Tampa, Florida. It is Florida's largest anime convention and organized by Team Dynamite Productions. The convention evolved from meetups of AnimeMetro.com members. Programming The convention typically offers an artist alley, autograph sessions, contests, dances/raves, LAN gaming, main events (such as the Anime Human chess Match, Costume and Cosplay Contests, Fantasy Masquerade, Fire Show, and Professional Wrestling), panels, tabletop game rooms, vendors room, video game rooms, and video rooms screening anime. Metrocon also hosts a blood drive. The convention brings $3.5 million to the area's economy. David L. Williams, sometimes referred to by his initials, DLW, is an American producer and ADR director (and, occasionally, a voice actor) that has been with ADV Films from the beginning when his living room was used as a production facility for their first show, ''Devil Hunter Yohko''. He left ADV in March 2008 and has since worked at Sentai Filmworks and Seraphim Digital. David regularly makes appearances at anime conventions as a representative of ADV. Abney Park is a steampunk band based in Seattle. Their name comes from Abney Park Cemetery in London, England. Formerly a goth band, Abney Park have transformed their look and sound and have been called the "quintessential spokespeople for the steampunk subculture." Bobbie Merveille (born 1983) better known by her stage names DJ Heavygrinder and Marie Vaunt is an American disc jockey. Biography Merveille was born in Seattle, Washington to a French-American father and a Japanese mother. She was raised in Japan's Kanagawa Prefecture, where she lived until the age of 14. Random Encounter is an independent American video game music cover/inspired band from Orlando, Florida that features an accordion as the lead instrument.
