M5/A5/Metroad 5 is one of Brisbane's road routes, running from Yamanto to Kedron and the Inner City Bypass. It is the main western bypass of the Brisbane central business district. Centenary Motorway
The M5 (Centenary Motorway) is a motorway in the western suburbs of Brisbane, Australia. It starts as a two-lane arterial road at Yamanto, travelling to Springfield, where it becomes a two-lane highway and travels across the M2 Logan Motorway at Ellen Grove (formerly Metroad 4 / M4) and ends at Kenmore where it changes its name to the M5 Western Freeway. It features eight interchanges, the major ones being with the M7 Ipswich Motorway (formerly Metroad 2 / M2) in Darra and another at Sinnamon Park. The Centenary Freeway links traffic from the west to the north of Brisbane. Milton Road
Milton Road is an arterial road in Brisbane, Australia. It is currently signed as State Route 32 for its entire length. Milton Road is a major corridor for traffic between the Brisbane central business district and the western suburbs. It carried an average of 50,954 vehicles per day between July and December 2014. Milton Road's western end is at the northern terminus of the Western Freeway at the base of Mount Coot-tha in the suburb of Toowong and progresses in a north-easterly direction through the suburbs of Auchenflower and Milton before terminating at Petrie Terrace in Brisbane City. 250 metres west of Petrie Terrace is an interchange with the Hale Street expressway which allows access to and from the Inner City Bypass. Western Freeway, Brisbane
The Western Freeway is a freeway in western Brisbane that runs from Milton Road in Toowong to the western side of Indooroopilly where the freeway becomes the M5 Centenary Motorway. The freeway bears the symbol and forms part of Metroad 5. There is one interchange, at Indooroopilly onto Moggill Road. A bicycle path runs the length of the freeway, allowing commuting to Toowong and onto Brisbane by bicycle. Options are currently being investigated in to a possible Kenmore Bypass. This would connect with the M5 along the existing preserved corridor to Chuwar, Queensland. This preserved corridor was identified in the 1960s for a future freeway. Stafford is a suburb in the City of Brisbane, Queensland, Australia. In the , Stafford had a population of 6,561 people. Yamanto is a suburb of Ipswich in the City of Ipswich, Queensland, Australia. At the 2016 Australian census the suburb recorded a population of 4,906. History The origin of the suburb is from a former 1860s cotton plantation which was originally spelt as 'Yamahanto', the property jointly owned by Queensland's first government medical officer Henry Challinor (1814–1882) and his cousin George Miles Challinor (1832–1888). Toowong
Toowong is a riverside suburb in the City of Brisbane, Queensland, Australia. In the , Toowong had a population of 10,830 people. Geography Toowong is situated between Mount Coot-tha and the Brisbane River and is made up of rolling hills with little flat land. Since European settlement most of the land has been cleared for residential and commercial use with the exception of some park land and bushland near the Western Freeway. At the centre of Toowong is a commercial precinct including Toowong Village, and several other commercial and office buildings.
