Metro Balderas (song)
"Metro Balderas", as it is generally known, or for its original name, "Estación del metro Balderas" ("Balderas subway station"), is a song by Mexican rock musician Rodrigo "Rockdrigo" González, which refers to a man looking for a woman who got lost in the crowd at Mexico City Metro station Metro Balderas. This song, along with other González's songs such as ''Distante instante'' and ''Balada del asalariado,'' can be found in the album ''Hurbanistorias'', recorded in 1984. These songs are available online at González's official website. González had enormous influence on Mexican rock bands, such as El Tri and Botellita de Jerez; his songs have been recorded many times, especially after his death. In 2003, a tribute album was recorded by the name "Ofrenda a Rockdrigo" ("An offering to Rockdrigo"). Rockdrigo González
Rodrigo González, (25 December 1950 – 19 September 1985), better known as Rockdrigo or ''El profeta del nopal'' ("The Nopal Prophet"), was a Mexican singer-songwriter. He died at age 35 with his girlfriend, Francoise Bardinet, when the apartment building in which he was living collapsed in the Mexico City earthquake of 19 September 1985. His early death made him a legend in Mexican rock. Biography Rodrigo was born in Tampico, Tamaulipas. He studied psychology for a brief time at the Universidad Veracruzana in Xalapa before moving to Mexico City in 1977 with the desire to make music. He arrived to the capital and began playing in bars and cafés. At first, he survived by singing covers in the streets of the city "in the English style." Over time, he began to create an oeuvre from his experiences on the streets. Tracción Acústica
Tracción Acústica is the tenth album of Enanitos Verdes released on January 27, 1998. Tracción Acústica is a compilation of their greatest hit songs recorded live in high acoustic quality. It includes a tribute to the legendary Mexican rock band El Tri, performing their classic theme "Metro Balderas". The album also contains two unreleased tracks: "El Guerrero" and "Fiesta Jurásica". It received a nomination for Best Latin Rock or Alternative Album at the 41st Annual Grammy Awards, becoming the group's first nomination at the ceremony. The album was recorded live on October 28 and 29, 1997, in Mexico City. It was their first album with their new record label: PolyGram. The performance was filmed by television networks for Telehit and was aired in February 1998. Los Enanitos Verdes
Enanitos Verdes (literal translation: "Little green dwarves", roughly equivalent to the English phrase "Little green men") is a rock trio from Argentina, formed in 1979 in the city of Mendoza. History The band started in 1979, with Marciano Cantero (bass guitar, keyboards and vocals), Felipe Staiti (guitar) and Daniel Piccolo drums. That same year, they performed throughout the Cuyo region. Later they traveled to Buenos Aires to record a demo, with unusable results that were never released. In spite of this failure, they continued doing shows in Mendoza and in Buenos Aires. In 1984 the band added two new members: Sergio Embrioni (guitar and vocals) and Tito Dávila (keyboard). As a quintet they published the disc ''Los Enanitos Verdes'', with the hit "Aún sigo cantando" ("I'm still singing"). Embrioni left the band in 1985. Metro Indios Verdes
Indios Verdes (; Spanish ) is a station of the Mexico City Metro along Insurgentes Norte Avenue in the ''colonias'' (neighborhoods) of Residencial Zacatenco and Santa Isabel Tola, in Gustavo A. Madero, Mexico City. It is an at-grade station with two island platforms that serves as the northern terminus of Line 3 (the Olive Line). It is followed by Deportivo 18 de Marzo station. The station and its surrounding area are named this way because of the verdigris statues of Itzcoatl and Ahuitzotl, both Aztec rulers. Metro Copilco
Copilco is a metro station, station along Mexico City Metro Line 3, Line 3 on the Mexico City Metro. Located in the Coyoacán borough, in the south of Mexico City, on Avenida Enríquez Ureña (Eje 10 Sur). It is the penultimate station along the southern portion of Line 3. General information The station logo depicts an Olmec representation of a coiled water snake or dragon (symbols of the lightbug, which is also a personification of the God of Water). Copilco means "in the Royal Crown" in Nahuatl. The station opened on 30 August 1983.
