The Boys (American Band)
Suns of Light are an American R&B boy band, originally known as the Boys. Biography Originating from Carson, California, the Suns of Light are composed of brothers Khiry, Hakeem, Tajh and Bilal Abdulsamad. Their parents are Angela Satterwhite and Jabari Abdulsamad (formerly Brown). Their grandmother taught them singing, dancing, and acting. In the summer of 1984, ages 5 to 10 as "The Boys," the group began busking at the Venice Beach boardwalk. Their first single, "Dial My Heart" became a hit, charting at #1 and was soon followed by "Lucky Charm" which also reached #1 on the U.S. R&B chart. The album, produced by Babyface and L.A. Reid, was certified Platinum and peaked at #32 on the ''Billboard'' 200. Their fourth single "Crazy" became their third R&B #1 in the fall of 1990. Kenneth Brian Edmonds (born April 10, 1959), better known by his stage name Babyface, is an American singer, songwriter, and record producer. He has written and produced over 26 number-one R&B hits throughout his career and has won 12 Grammy Awards. He was ranked number 20 on ''NME'' 50 of The Greatest Producers Ever list. Perri Arlette Reid (née McKissack; August 29, 1964), known professionally as the recording artist Pebbles, is an American recording artist, singer-songwriter, businesswoman, record producer, and music executive. ''The Boys'' is the eponymous second album from American R&B group Suns of Light (originally known as the Boys), released in via Motown Records. Although L.A. Reid and Babyface produced 3 songs on their debut album ''Messages from the Boys'', instead one song is produced by Daryl Simmons and Kayo, who were a part of the LaFace production and songwriting camp. Three singles were released from the album: "Crazy", "Thing Called Love" and "Thanx 4 the Funk". "Crazy" is the last song the group has released to date to reach #1 on the ''Billboard'' R&B chart, as well as the last song to date to chart on the ''Billboard'' Hot 100, peaking at #29.
