Mersing District
Mersing District is one of the 10 districts district in Johor, Malaysia. Its seat is located at Mersing Town. Etymology The “Mersing” name is derived from the Chinese “Mau Sheng Port” (茂盛港) since 1880 and further simplify to Mersing. Mersing's Chinese name was renamed to “Feng Sheng Port” (丰盛港), with the meaning of good harvest. There are also said that Mersing's name is derived from Sikh traders who named Amir Singh and Men Singh. Geology Beside the mainland area, the district also consists of 36 islands. Geography With an area of 2,838 km2, Mersing District is the third largest district in Johor, which covers 14.6% area of the state. Jawi Script

Abdul Latiff Ahmad
Abdul Latiff bin Ahmad ( Jawi: عبداللطيف بن أحمد ; born 9 July 1958) is a Malaysian politician who served as Minister in the Prime Minister's Department for Special Functions from 2021 to 2022. He was the Member of Parliament (MP) for Mersing from 1999 to 2022. Abdul Latiff previously served as Minister of Rural Development from 2020 to 2021. He held various posts such as Deputy Minister of Defence, Deputy Minister of Health, and Deputy Minister of Human Resources. Percentage figures are calculated based on total turnout. Tengah Island
Tengah Island ( ms, Pulau Tengah) is a privately owned island in Mersing District, Johor, Malaysia. It lies nine nautical miles off the coast of Mersing on the South China Sea. Near Besar Island, Tengah Island is 16 km off the coast and is a 45-minute boat ride. During the 1970s, the island became famous as a Vietnamese refugee transit campsite, which was subsequently closed in the early 1980s. The island was the first location for the making of the TV show Expedition Robinson in 1997. In 1985, Tengah Island was one of the few islands nominated by the Malaysian government as a Marine Park due to its abundant marine life and rare species of fish and coral. The island is home to an upscale resort called Batu Batu. The resort runs a conservation program called Turtle Watch Camp in which marine biologists have built a hatchery to preserve sea turtle eggs until they hatch. Rawa Island
Rawa Island ( ms, Pulau Rawa) is a coral island in Mersing District, Johor, Malaysia. Nearby islands include Harimau and Mensirip. "Rawa" is the local term for white doves, which are abundant in the island. Rawa is a relatively small island. There are no proper roads, only a few walkways. One side of the island is a beach covered with white sand, while the other side has a rocky vertical cliff. The water is clear. There are many sea and land creatures such as fishes, squids, jellyfish, octopuses, Malayan sea eagles, and reptiles. Dayang Island
Dayang Island ( ms, Pulau Dayang) is an island in Mersing District, Johor, Malaysia. It is one of a group of islands along with Pulau Aur, Pulau Lang, and Pulau Pemanggil. The name of the neighbouring island, Pulau Aur, means "bamboo island" in Malay. Both islands have been known to Chinese sailors for centuries. A map from the 17th century identified these islands as East and West Bamboo islands. This is a small island with two resorts available. Being the furthest island in West Malaysia, it takes a while to get to, three to four hours by charter boat from Mersing town. Dayang and Aur islands can be visited from March to November. Travel from December to February is not recommended, when the sea is controlled by the northeast monsoon and navigation from the main coast of Malaysia is generally closed. Aur Island
The Aur Island ( ms, Pulau Aur) is an island in Mersing District, Johor, Malaysia. It lies about east of Mersing Town and is part of the Johor Marine Park. Its corals, lagoons and offshore pools make it a tourist attraction. It has for many years also been a frequent stopover point for fishermen. There is also a smaller island close by, Dayang Island, which is separated from Aur Island by a narrow channel of about width at the narrowest point. Both islands are home to Singaporean diving companies, divers reach the island by chartered boats from Mersing or Singapore. Diving Due to its distance from the mainland of Peninsula Malaysia, Aur Island offers clear water at its dive sites. Marine life commonly seen by divers include manta ray, barracudas, whitetip sharks, rays, napoleon wrasse, jacks, trevally, yellowback fusiliers, turtle, angelfish, titan triggerfish and bumphead parrotfish. Endau
Endau is a small town in Mersing District, Johor, Malaysia. It lies on the northern tip of east Johor, on the border with Pahang. Name The town was named ''Endau'' after a peranakan Indian who resided in the area. In the 19th century it was known to the British as ''Blair's Harbour''. History The town was opened by Dato' Mohd Ali by an order from Temenggong Ibrahim. The town expanded due to its location as the center of economy for the people who worked in the trading, fishing and logging sectors at that time.
