Nathan King (singer-songwriter)
Nathan King is a musician, singer, and songwriter from Christchurch, New Zealand. History King's musical career began with his band Zed, who released two multi-platinum albums: '' Silencer'' (2000) and '' This Little Empire'' (2003). Zed toured in New Zealand, Australia and Europe, playing shows supporting acts like Robbie Williams, Coldplay, The Calling and Ash. In 2001 he was nominated for the award of best songwriter and won the award as best male vocalist at the New Zealand Music Awards. In 2005 King began a solo career after Zed decided to take an extended break. His first solo album, '' The Crowd'', produced by Brady Blade and Greg Haver, was released in September 2008. Hollie Smith
Hollie Smith (born 17 November 1982) is a New Zealand soul singer-songwriter based in Auckland, New Zealand. Her four solo albums ''Long Player, Humour and the Misfortune of Others, Water or Gold,'' and ''Coming In From The Dark'' have all reached number one on the RIANZ albums chart, making her one of the most successful female New Zealand artists of the 21st century. Early years Smith attended Auckland's Willow Park Primary School, Takapuna Normal Intermediate and Rangitoto College. In 1999, as a 16-year-old, Smith made the album ''Light From a Distant Shore'' after winning Best Female Vocalist at the National Jazz Festival of NZ. Recorded Music NZ (formerly the Recording Industry Association of New Zealand (RIANZ)) is a non-profit trade association of record producers, distributors and recording artists who sell recorded music in New Zealand. Shona Laing
Shona Laing (born 9 October 1955) is a New Zealand musician. She has had several hits in her native country, as well as a few minor international hits, most notably " (Glad I'm) Not a Kennedy" and "Soviet Snow". Laing contributed to Manfred Mann's Earth Band album '' Somewhere in Afrika'' and contributed music to, and appeared in, the 1985 action film '' Shaker Run''. Whirimako Black
Whirimako Black (born ) is a New Zealand Māori recording artist and actress. Black sings mostly in the Māori language, uses traditional Māori musical forms and collaborates with traditional taonga pūoro instruments. Her musical achievements include composing and singing the titles for the acclaimed Television New Zealand series, ''The New Zealand Wars'', as well as composing with Hori Tait the initial title music for the Māori news programme, ''Te Karere''. Anne Crummer (born 1966) is a New Zealand pop singer and songwriter of Cook Islands descent who has seen success in both a solo career and as part of various musical groups. Biography Crummer grew up in West Auckland. Her father, Will Crummer, a Cook Islander, was one of her strongest musical influences. Her mother Tangi is Tahitian.
