Merlyn Condit
Merlyn Edwin Condit (March 21, 1917 – October 18, 1992), nicknamed "Merlyn the Magician," was an American football H-back in the National Football League for the Pittsburgh Steelers, the Washington Redskins, and the Brooklyn Dodgers (NFL), Brooklyn Dodgers. He played college football at West Virginia Mountaineers football, West Virginia University and Carnegie Mellon University#Athletics, Carnegie Mellon University. Professional career The St._Louis_Rams#Cleveland_Rams_.281936.E2.80.931945.29, Cleveland Rams selected Condit in the second round of the 1940 NFL Draft, but he never played for them, instead joining Pittsburgh Steelers, Pittsburgh as a rookie in 1940, where he earned a selection to the Pro Bowl#NFL All-Star Games (1939–1942), NFL All-Star Game. Condit next played three seasons for the Brooklyn Dodgers (NFL), Brooklyn Dodgers between 1941 and 1943. Belle Vernon, Pennsylvania
Belle Vernon is a borough in Fayette County, Pennsylvania. It is situated along the Monongahela River abutting two other counties, Westmoreland to the north and Washington across the river. As of the 2020 census Belle Vernon had a population of 1,025. "Bellevernon", as it was originally spelled, was laid out in 1813 by Noah Speers in northwestern Fayette County. French for "beautiful green", this was the name chosen by both Noah Speers for his little community on the Monongahela River and later by his son Louis, who founded a town with nearly the same name just up the hill (North Belle Vernon, Pennsylvania). Directly across the river lies the borough of Speers, anchoring the far side of the landmark I-70 bridge as the east bridge abutments lie in adjacent Rostraver Township.
