Merited Military Pilot Of The USSR
The Honorary Title "Honoured Military Pilot of the USSR" (russian: Заслуженный военный лётчик СССР) was a state military award of the Soviet Union established on January 26, 1965, by Decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet No. 3230-VI to recognise and reward excellence in military aviation. It was abolished on August 22, 1988, by decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet No. 9441-XI. Vasily Reshetnikov
Vasily Vasilyevich Reshetnikov (russian: Василий Васильевич Решетников; 23 December 1919 – 20 March 2023) was a Soviet Union, Soviet pilot who served during World War II. Reshetnikov flew 307 missions, mainly as a pilot of a long-range bomber, and in the summer of 1943, received the title of Hero of the Soviet Union. After World War II, he was named commander of an Aviation Division, Air Corps. Reshetnikov was subsequently promoted to Colonel General and took command of the Long-Range Aviation branch from 1969 to 1980 and was made Deputy Commander-in-Chief of the Air Force of the Soviet Union from 1980 to 1986. Soviet Air Force
The Soviet Air Forces ( rus, Военно-воздушные силы, r=Voyenno-vozdushnyye sily, VVS; literally "Military Air Forces") were one of the air forces of the Soviet Union. The other was the Soviet Air Defence Forces. The Air Forces were formed from components of the Imperial Russian Air Service in 1917, and faced their greatest test during World War II. The groups were also involved in the Korean War, and dissolved along with the Soviet Union itself in 1991–92. Ivan Yefimovich Zhukov
Ivan Yefimovich Zhukov (russian: Иван Ефимович Жуков; 31 December 1934 – 10 April 2021) was an officer of the Soviet Air Force. Over his time in service, he reached the rank of ''polkovnik'', the Soviet equivalent to colonel. In 1982 he was awarded the title of Hero of the Soviet Union. Born in 1932, Zhukov began a long association with flying while studying in his hometown. After being drafted into the armed forces in 1953, he studied and trained in several of the country's military flight schools. Rising through the ranks, he served in fighter regiments, and as an instructor pilot, later becoming involved in training and development of new technologies. In 1982, while flying the MiG-25PU, an accident occurred, causing the aircraft to become almost uncontrollable.
