Merchant Marine Mariners
The United States Merchant Marine Academy's intercollegiate sports teams are called the Mariners and they compete in the Division III of the NCAA, generally as once a charter member of the Landmark Conference. In 2016, they returned to the Skyline Conference in all sports. Men's sports include baseball, football, basketball, cross country, lacrosse, soccer, swimming & diving, tennis, wrestling and track and field. Women's sports include basketball, cross country, lacrosse, swimming and diving, track and field, and volleyball. In football, the teams were an associate member of the Liberty League until 2017, when they joined the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference as an associate member. Skyline Conference
The Skyline Conference is a college athletic conference based in the New York City area that competes in the NCAA's Division III. The league was originally chartered on May 16, 1989, as a men's basketball conference and now sponsors 17 sports (nine for men and 8 for women). The Skyline Conference sponsors baseball, men's and women's basketball, men's and women's cross country, men's golf, men's and women's lacrosse, men's and women's soccer, softball, men's and women's swimming and diving, men's and women's tennis, and men's and women's volleyball. Primarily comprising schools from the New York metropolitan area, the Skyline Conference currently has 11 full-time member schools, as well as five part-time members that compete in men's lacrosse and men's volleyball only. Centennial Conference
The Centennial Conference is an athletic conference which competes in the NCAA's Division III. Member teams are located in Maryland and Pennsylvania. Eleven private colleges compose the Centennial Conference. Five of ten members of the Centennial Conference rank among the top 50 national liberal arts colleges and Johns Hopkins University is ranked seventh among national universities. On average, Centennial members sponsor 19 varsity teams. ICSA Coed Dinghy National Championship is the oldest and most prestigious of the American Inter-Collegiate Sailing Association National Championships. Winners are awarded the Henry A. Morss Memorial Trophy. Second place team receives the ''Oxford University Yacht Club Trophy'' and third place team receives the ''Metropolitan Sailing League Trophy''. The Inter-Collegiate Sailing Association (ICSA) holds National Championships in seven different categories: * Coed Dinghy * Women’s Dinghy *Team Racing * Women's Team Racing * Men’s Singlehanded * Women’s Singlehanded *Match Racing (previously Sloop) The college team that compiles the best overall record in the six categories is awarded the Leonard M. The sport of sailing involves a variety of competitive sailing formats that are sanctioned through various sailing federations and yacht clubs. Racing disciplines include matches within a fleet of sailing craft, between a pair thereof or among teams. Additionally, there are specialized competitions that include setting speed records. Racing formats include both closed courses and point-to-point contests; they may be in sheltered waters, coast-wise or on the open ocean. United States Coast Guard Academy
The United States Coast Guard Academy (USCGA) is a service academy of the United States Coast Guard in New London, Connecticut. Founded in 1876, it is the smallest of the five U.S. service academies and provides education to future Coast Guard officers in one of nine major fields of study. Students are officers-in-training and are referred to as cadets, and upon graduation receive a Bachelor of Science degree and are commissioned as Coast Guard ensigns with a five-year active-duty service obligation, with additional years if the graduate attends flight school or subsequent government-funded graduate school. The United States Coast Guard Academy's intercollegiate sports teams are called the Bears. They compete in NCAA Division III as members of the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference. Through the 2016 season, the Bears played football in the New England Football Conference, but after that season moved their football program into the NEWMAC, which started sponsoring the sport in 2017. The school fields 26 varsity teams. Origin of the name The academy nickname is the Bears, after the USRC ''Bear'', which made a dramatic rescue in Alaska in 1897, shortly after the opening of the academy.
