Mercedes Arias
Mercedes Arias (1862 – 7 January 1954) was a Puerto Rican musician and composer from Ponce, Puerto Rico. Among her compositions are ''"Renacimiento"'' (Renaissance), and ''"Flores y Perlas"'' (Flowers and Pearls). Professional career Arias was trained by Juan Morel Campos and Julio Arteaga. She was "one of the greatest pianists and composers Ponce had". Her compositors are "saturated with beauty." Among them are ''"Renacimiento"'' (Renaissance), and ''"Flores y Perlas"'' (Flowers and Pearls). She was one of the first musician contracted by Jaime Pericas Díaz in his concert hall orchestra in 1926. She was also highly applauded and regarded in her solo concerts. Under the leadership of Juan Morel Campos, Lizzie Graham and Arias, many representations, concerts, discussions and recitals occurred in Ponce. Guillermo Vivas Valdivieso
Guillermo Vivas Valdivieso (10 February 1881 – 31 January 1965) was a Puerto Rican attorney, journalist, politician and Mayor of Ponce, Puerto Rico from 1925 to 1928. Tricentennial Park (Ponce, Puerto Rico)
Parque del Tricentenario is a passive urban park in the city of Ponce, Puerto Rico. The park was built to commemorate the 300th anniversary of the founding of the city. It was inaugurated during the mayoral administration of mayor Rafael Cordero Santiago. Location The park is a passive urban family park. It is located in Barrio Tercero (Ponce), Tercero at the entrance to the Ponce Historic Zone on Miguel Pou Boulevard, at the southern terminus of Puerto Rico Highway 1, PR-1. Features The park is a three-plaza park. All three plazas have gardens and marble benches. Setting the stage for the park is ''El Puente de los Leones'' (The Bridge of the Lions). It spans Rio Portugues and is the gateway to, not just Parque del Tricentenario, but to the Ponce Historic Zone, Ponce historical district as well. Cementerio Católico San Vicente De Paul
The Cementerio Católico San Vicente de Paul ( en, Saint Vincent de Paul Catholic Cemetery) is a cemetery in the city of Ponce, Puerto Rico. It is the only cemetery in Puerto Rico with a group of niches built forming a basement, in which the burials occurred beneath ground level, thus giving the effect of a catacomb.. The cemetery is named after Vincent de Paul (24 April 1581 – 27 September 1660), the French Roman Catholic priest who dedicated his life to serving the poor. It was listed on the U.S. National Register of Historic Places in 1988.. Location Cementerio Catolico San Vicente de Paul is located off Puerto Rico Route PR-123 in barrio Magueyes Urbano.
