Mercantile SFK
Mercantile Ski- og Fotballklubb is a Norwegian football club from Oslo, Norway. Founded on 3 June 1903, the club currently plays in 7. divisjon, the eighth tier of the Norwegian football league system. The club formerly had sections for bandy, handball, ice hockey and skiing. History Mercantile Ski- og Fotballklubb was founded on 3 June 1903 by av Hans Chr. Endrerud, Einar Maartmann and Sverre Strand. In the early years, the club dominated local football in Oslo and even in national competition. The first eighth county championships (In Norwegian:''kretsmesterskap'') were won by Mercantile between 1906 and 1913. Mercantile became Norwegian Champions in 1907 and 1912 as winners of the Norwegian Cup. When Norway played its first international match, nine of the players were represented by Mercantile SFK. Association football, more commonly known as football or soccer, is a team sport played between two teams of 11 players who primarily use their feet to propel the ball around a rectangular field called a pitch. The Norwegian Football Federation ( nb, Norges Fotballforbund, nn, Noregs Fotballforbund; NFF) is the governing body of football in Norway. It was formed in 1902 and organises the men's and women's national teams, as well as the league systems for men and women (whose top levels are respectively the Eliteserien and Toppserien). The current president of NFF is Lise Klaveness. By 1 January 2004, there were 1,814 clubs organized in Norway and 373,532 registered players. It is the largest sports federation in Norway. The Norwegian Football Cup ( no, Norgesmesterskapet i fotball for herrer) is the main knockout cup competition in Norwegian football. It is run by the Football Association of Norway and has been contested since 1902, making it the oldest football tournament in the country. Nordstrand Idrettsforening is a sports club in Nordstrand, Oslo, Norway. The club has sections for alpine skiing, association football and handball. It formerly had sections for orienteering, track and field and Nordic skiing. The club colors are white and blue. Mjøndalen IF is a Norwegian sports club located in Mjøndalen, Viken, Norway. Of the different athletic endeavours that the club supports, it may be best known in Norway for its bandy national championship teams and internationally for its association football national championship teams that have competed in UEFA championships.
