Hans Rasmus Astrup
Hans Rasmus Astrup (17 April 1831 in Bolsøy – 19 February 1898) was a Norwegian industrial entrepreneur, philanthropist and politician with the Liberal Party. Astrup was born and raised at Bolsøy in Møre og Romsdal, Norway. He was the son of Ebbe Carsten Tønder Astrup, who was mayor of Bolsøy for four years. He apprenticed as an office boy and salesman for Hans Clausen, who was a ship owner and fish exporter. In 1855, Astrup established his own import business. The trade expanded from fish to lumber, with suppliers in Finland and Sweden and markets in Great Britain. In 1860, he established his office in Stockholm. The business expanded until a fire in 1874. Elkem Meraker
Elkem Meraker, formerly known as Meraker Smelteverk, was a microsilica plant located at Kopperå in Meråker, Norway. The plant was established in 1898 to manufacture carbide, put later rebuilt to manufacture microsilica. In 1981, it was sold from Union Carbide to Elkem. Products were transported along the Meråker Line to the port at Muruvik, where they were shipped abroad. The plant closed in 2006. Influential manager from 1906 to 1928 was Iver Høy. Muruvik
Muruvika or Muruvik is a village in the municipality of Malvik in Trøndelag county, Norway. The village is located near the end of the Stjørdalsfjorden, an arm of the Trondheimsfjord. The village sits about north of the village of Hommelvik, the municipal centre. Thomas Nicolay Fearnley (9 April 1841, in Amsterdam – 17 May 1927, in Oslo) was a Norwegian shipping magnate, industrialist and philanthropist. Biography He was the son of romantic painter Thomas Fearnley, and the grandson of merchant Thomas Fearnley and Maren Sophie Paus. His mother Cecilie Catharine Andresen was the daughter of banker Nicolai Andresen, founder of what became the Andresen Bank, one of Norway's largest commercial banks. Statskog
Statskog is a Norwegian state-owned enterprise responsible for the management of state-owned forest and mountain real estate totaling approximately 20% of the area of Norway. About 5% of Statskog's land is productive forest while 80% is above the tree line. The company has its headquarters in Namsos.
