Ozaukee County is a county in the U.S. state of Wisconsin. As of the 2020 census, the population was 91,503. Its county seat is Port Washington, making it one of three Wisconsin counties on Lake Michigan not to have a county seat with the same name. Ozaukee County is included in the Milwaukee– Waukesha–West Allis, WI Metropolitan Statistical Area. As of the 2000 Census, Ozaukee County had the second-lowest poverty rate of any county in the United States, at 2.6%. In terms of per capita income, it is the 25th-wealthiest county in the country. Bolstered by low crime rates and school districts with high graduation rates, ''Forbes'' magazine ranked Ozaukee County #2 on its list of "America's Best Places To Raise A Family" in June 2008. Menomonee used to be a town in Waukesha County, Wisconsin, United States. History The town was created in December 1839 in Milwaukee County, Wisconsin Territory out of the eastern part of what had previously been the town Lisbon. On January 31, 1846, the town became part of Waukesha County. Menomonee Falls is a village in Waukesha County, Wisconsin, United States, and is part of the Greater Milwaukee area. The population was 35,626 at the 2010 census, making it the most populous village in Wisconsin. It is the fourth largest community in Waukesha County. The Menomonee Valley or Menomonee River Valley is a U-shaped land formation along the southern bend of the Menomonee River in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Because of its easy access to Lake Michigan and other waterways, the neighborhood has historically been home to the city's stockyards, rendering plants, shipping, and other heavy industry. It was also a primary source of pollution for the river. Glacial meltwater formed the Menomonee Valley over 10,000 years ago when the Lake Michigan Lobe of the Wisconsin Glaciation retreated and eroded a swath four miles (6 km) long and half of a mile wide. Today, it is roughly bounded by the 6th Street Viaduct near the river confluence and Miller Park stadium to the west. ''Menomonee'' is a public artwork by artist Hilary Goldblatt located on the former Emmber Foods, Inc. grounds on the south side of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, United States. The Cor-Ten steel piece is a horizontal constructivist abstract form composed of beams forming angles and open spaces. It was created in 1985 and is 4.5' high, 20' long and 4' wide. Description ''Menomonee'' is a Cor-Ten steel horizontal sculpture made up of beams welded at various angles. It sits on a concrete base with a plaque that reads MENOMONEE/BY HILARY GOLDBLATT/SPONSORED BY/PECK MEAT PACKING CORP. The plaque was installed on October 4, 1985 and is unsigned. Goldblatt thought carefully about the Menomonee Valley when conceptualizing this site-specific sculpture. She came up with a balanced abstract form that is both open and enclosed, offering the viewer various angles from which it can be appreciated.
