Alan James (March 23, 1890 – December 30, 1952) was an American film director and screenwriter. He directed more than 70 films between 1916 and 1943. He also wrote for more than 60 films between 1916 and 1951. He was born in Port Townsend, Washington, and died in Hollywood, California. Edwin Maxwell (actor)
Edwin Maxwell (9 February 1886 – 13 August 1948) was an Irish character actor on in Hollywood movies of the 1930s and 1940s, frequently cast as shady businessmen and shysters, though often ones with a pompous or dignified bearing. Prior to that, he was an actor on the Broadway stage and a director of plays. Early life Maxwell was a native of Dublin. Career In the late 1920s, Maxwell directed and acted in plays with the New York Theater Guild Repertory Company. From 1939 to 1942, Maxwell served as the dialogue director for the films of epic director Cecil B. DeMille. Roger Grimes Williams (February 8, 1898 – December 18, 1964) was an American actor of the 1930s. Born on February 8, 1898, in Denver, Colorado, his family moved to the Los Angeles area during the early 1900s. He served in the U.S. Army during World War I, being awarded several decorations. Married several times, he entered the film industry in the early 1930s, where he worked for several years. Married three times, he had a short film career during the 1930s, after which not much is known of his life, until his death in Los Angeles in 1964. Early life Williams was born in Denver, Colorado, on February 8, 1898, to Charles H. Williams and Evangeline Lloyd. He was the oldest of seven children. John Ince (actor)
John Edward Ince (August 29, 1878 – April 10, 1947), also credited as John E. Ince, was an American stage and motion pictures actor, a film director, and the eldest brother of Thomas H. Ince and Ralph Ince. John Ince became a member of The Lambs Club in 1919 like his brother Ralph, who had joined in 1916. A leading man from the early 1910s, he also directed and scripted several of his own vehicles. Arthur Hoyt
Arthur Hoyt (March 19, 1874 – January 4, 1953) was an American film character actor who appeared in more than 275 films in his 34-year film career, about a third of them silent films. Career Born in Georgetown, Colorado, in 1874, Hoyt made his Broadway debut in 1905 in ''The Prince Consort''. He also appeared in Ferenc Molnár's ''The Devil'' in 1908, and made his final Broadway appearance in ''The Great Name'' in 1911. Hoyt made the silent comedy short ''The Scrub Lady'' in 1914, but his film acting career did not begin in earnest until 1916 when he appeared in another short, ''The Heart of a Show Girl''. Fred Kohler
Fred Kohler (April 20, 1888 – October 28, 1938) was an American actor. Career Fred Kohler was born in Kansas City, Missouri or in Dubuque, Iowa. As a teen, he began to pursue a career in vaudeville, but worked other jobs to support himself. He lost part of his right hand in a mining accident during this time. Eventually he was able to join a touring company, and worked steadily in show business for several years. His son Fred Kohler Jr. also became an actor. America's budding film industry drew a 20-something Kohler to Hollywood, where he made his start in silent films. His first role was in the 1911 short ''The Code of Honor'', and he had an uncredited role in Cecil B.
